Celebrate International Women's Week & A Radio Jockey (World Hearing Day) With Me - RJ Sheetal

Hy Local Guides,:studio_microphone:

Today is viewed and celebrated as World Hearing Day in this Women’s Week of International Women’s Day on March 8th. As part of Hearing, Radio still is our favourite medium of hearing news and daily programs or songs. On this day, I am going to introduce a Woman Local Guide who was also a well-known Radio Jockey.

Let’s meet @RJSheetal.

RJ Sheetal from Rajkot (Gujarat) living in Pune (Maharashtra) and a spiritual adventurer with a deep belief in the universe, it’s the pursuit of spiritual growth and adventure that fuels her fire. She has dedicated years to meditation and global spiritual practices and is known for daring feats, adventurous sports like bungee jumping, scuba diving, river rafting, skydiving which injects her life with excitement and a sense of achievement. These experiences are not just about an adrenaline rush but about pushing her boundaries and discovering new depth within herself. Traveling and exploring different cultures added layers of her understanding of the world.

Let’s hear what Sheetal has to say :

  1. What sparkled you to become a local guide?

Answer : I’m passionate about sharing my adventures and expertise on social media. As I received numerous questions and helped people plan their trips, I realized the value of my experiences in guiding others. This sparked my motivation to continue posting and assisting fellow travelers. That’s when I discovered the *Local Guide Program”, which enabled me to amplify my impact and help even more people explore new destinations.

  1. What inspired you to become a Radio Jockey?

Answer : During my college days, I actively participated in elocution competitions and hosted cultural events, which significantly boosted my confidence in creative speaking. Meanwhile, I learned about an RJ Hunt happening in town and decided to take a chance. My creativity and charisma impressed the judges , and I landed the role. That marked the beginning of my remarkable 17-year journey in radio, earning me the title of ‘Voice of Rajkot’.

  1. How do you connect with your listeners and build a community?

Answer : Radio, to me, is the ultimate ‘theatre of the mind’. My favorite part of being on-air was transporting listeners on a journey, using only my words and voice. I had a special segment on my morning prime-time show where I’d share my travel experiences, vividly recreating the sights, sounds, and emotions of each destination. It was a thrill to connect with my audience in such a unique way.

  1. Have you included some local guides’ experiences in your radio show in any way?

Answer : Whenever I’d learn about foreign travelers or Indians from other states visiting Rajkot, I’d be the first to extend a warm welcome. I’d invite them to share their fascinating stories on my show, inspiring others to explore new horizons. By bringing these travelers into the studio, I aimed to spread the joy of discovery and create a sense of wanderlust among my listeners.

  1. What messages do you want to give to other women local guides in our community?

Answer : To all the incredible women out there, Happy Women’s Day! Don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith, travel to new lands, and try new things. You never know what amazing experiences and opportunities await you. Remember to prioritize self-care, love yourself, and know your worth. You are strong, capable, and deserving of all the happiness in the world.

  1. How do you think our hearing experiences as a local guide can make our life pleasant?

Answer : Having an ear for something can bring positive change in life because listening with attention is the key to having great communication. Having an ear for music or languages means you possess a natural talent for perceiving, replicating, and comprehending the unique sounds and melodies.

Thank you Sheetal for giving me such wonderful interview in this World Hearing Day about your profession and being a Local Guide.
