Did you mean:

Pop-Up for "fact checking" if you contributed to a place with photos / review

This proposal is coming from a recent (bad) experience.

A place very well known and historical Abbey has been closed in Google Maps. I have noticed it checking my photos contribution, where now my picture is shown for an "unknown place"

My suggestion is that Local Guides (being Local experts) can be prompted for a fact checking, for confirming that a place where they contributed with photos and reviews is Closed, or has been modified (e.g. Name change, or different category).

I would limit this option to photos and reviews only, because an edit can be made also by a spammer, so I do not want a spammer to refuse a modification of a not legittimate edit

Absolutly right, no doubt in some cases i also noticed.

I appreciate your suggestion. I had attempted to add a place on Google. It was not accepted but no reason provided. Thus, I was stymied. So I submitted several photos carefully demonstrating it exists. Again, not accepted. Then I found the very place under a more ambiguous identification. So, I made a review, included the photos and provided historic commemorative details. In my case, technically, we are both correct just one description is specific the other more generic. Bottomline, we all are striving for accuracy. It is a win win for Google and the Google users to have such dedicated Guides.

I too join to this idea @ErmesT . At least to confirm permanently closed firms we can entrust the responsibility to higher level local guides (maybe level 9 & 10 only) with a double confirmation...

Hi @ErmesT  Sometimes by inattention maybe for other reasons I checked the wrong answers, not necessarily to the existence of the locations. The more you want to score, the error rate increases, the algorithms are algorithms, we are people and we all want as many points as we sometimes make mistakes and a person loses something valuable added by him on the map, probably the algorithm will be modified in time, man will remain sad.
I agree that something needs to be changed

@ErmesT thank you for linking me to this post on my similar question now 2-1/2 years after your post. It would seem that Google has chosen to allow such unsubstantiated removals to continue unabated. That is unfortunate. I think it may also be increasing due to the movement to not identify photographic locations, denying others the ability to visit the same spots later.

I agree that you should be noticed as a reviewer that the place you have visited and reviewed has been closed. My (negative) review has been removed but the ferry is still operating at the harbour I reviewed.. Today I reposted my review so I can inform new customers.
