Whoop! Whoop! Welcome to #ConnectTurns5Challenge Week 1 which will be running from the 5th July to 11th July (or forever if you are so inclined to keep participating!). For the very first week, I am keeping the challenge super simple. Read on to find out more!
Just as Connect has grown and is now 5 years old, we’ve all grown as Local Guides too!
As good Local Guides, we should always try to improve the quality of our contributions and to also help others improve theirs too! And Connect has been instrumental in providing the community with ample guidance, tips, and motivation to not only do more but to do them better!
So, in honour of our growth as Local Guides, I would love to know more about your proudest achievements! Here are some suggestions on what you could post (pick at least one):
You could share the number of points that you’ve gained so far on Google Maps and which was the hardest for you to get and how you managed to get them!
You could share your Local Guides shrine!! If you have a corner in your house where you keep all your Local Guides gifts, souvenirs and memories from meet-ups, I would love to see them! (see my comment below for this example)
Please submit your post under the Achievements category and also let your friends/community know about this challenge! It would be lovely to see how everyone has improved over the years or if you’re new to the program, perhaps you can get inspired by all that has been achieved! And don’t be shy to learn from each other!
My biggest achievement to date is getting the 2020 Guiding Star award! That was pretty unexpected and very much in the awesome league of things! And you can watch this quick video below to find out more about it too. It was just such a cool recognition of all the work that I’ve done for the program and the community and it has really motivated me to keep on fighting the good fight, and thinking of new ways to keep the community engaged from Community Live 2020 to Local Guides Kitchen and now Local Guides Panel!
And yes, as Guiding Stars, we also got some pretty sweet gifts from Google! You can check out my unboxing video below!
And lastly, here’s an example of my Local Guides shrine which is part tribute to the Local Guides program and also part tribute to myself and the stuff that made me, me! I’ve been super lucky in attending all the annual summits since 2016 so that’s 4 times of me being at Google’s HQ and meeting other amazing Local Guides. In the process, I’ve picked up quite a bit of souvenirs from all over the world! The collection that you see in this video is actually just a very small portion. At the time of filming, I was in Malaysia but the majority of my souvenirs were still in the UK!
Well done on your achievements @AdrianLunsong , you’ve achieved great results but not without a lot of effort. One of your comments piqued my interest. You wrote, “As good Local Guides, we should always try to improve the quality of our contributions and to also help others improve theirs too!”. I totally agree with this philosophy and in fact mentioned this here only yesterday.
Oh my… oh my… oh my!! I’m super thrilled by this one and I didn’t even know a) a badge exist for this, or b) I was close to getting it! It turns out my recap post for #LocalGuidesPanel was my 250th post!
Oh yes !!! The 360° Streetview trusted photographer badge is what I mean. One more question please,do we share the achievements here on this thread or a separate post on the achievement board?
@LaloPadilla Looking forward to see what you’ve accomplished during your time as a Local Guide!
@SholaIB Good question! If you’re going to post something quick and short, then I would suggest just posting as a comment in this thread. But if you want to elaborate more and it’s going to be quite long, then perhaps you can publish it as a post on its own. That said, I can’t guarantee that other moderators won’t merge it into this thread.
That’s very nice of you to explain clearly. As for the moderators, I won’t mind. I’ll chance to make it another post. It’s quite elaborated what I have composed. Will tag you on it as well. Thanks.
Congratulations @AdrianLunsong and happy 5thBithday to all of us
I join in the idea of @Shola4sure … I have so much to say. To be honest, when I talk about Local Guides, even though I tell myself I’m going to be brief, I’m going to forget and start to get really, really long.
