As shared earlier, with the GG V2 Series theme centered on “Back to Basics,” we are thrilled to announce Episode 8 of the Ghumakkad Gossip Meet-up Series: “From Mistakes to Mastery: Tips for Local Guide.” :repeat_button::sparkles:

In the journey From Mistakes to Mastery, being a Local Guide on Google Maps is about going beyond just making contributions to create meaningful impact through accuracy, authenticity, and inclusivity. By sharing genuine first-hand reviews, high-quality photos, and reliable information; we help build a more informed and diverse community. Growth comes from learning by doing, refining past contributions, engaging with the community, and prioritizing quality over quantity. By following best practices and embracing mistakes as opportunities to improve, every thoughtful contribution brings us closer to true mastery.

Let’s realign, relearn, and rediscover the essentials, because strong foundations lead to impactful journeys.

:glowing_star: Special Guest Spotlight :glowing_star:

To deepen our understanding of the theme “From Mistakes to Mastery: Tips for Local Guides,” we are delighted to warmly welcome Ecologist, Accessibility Champion, and Connect Moderator Ermes Tuon (@ErmesT) from Treviso, Italy. His presence brings immense value to this session, enriched with his vast experience, practical knowledge, and insightful perspective on learning and growing through mistakes. :waving_hand:

Ermes truly believes that, as a Local Guide, each of us can make a meaningful difference by helping people around the world through thoughtful contributions. He enjoys discovering new places to add and capturing photos of the shops he regularly visits; so much so that many cover photos in his local mall are his own. Through his contributions; adding new places, editing wrong information, and adding photos; he inspires others to explore, review, and support Maps users more effectively on Google Maps. :raising_hands:

During this session, we will have the opportunity to learn from his experiences; transforming common challenges into opportunities for growth. We will explore how to improve areas like avoiding low-quality or duplicate photos, writing more authentic and experience-based reviews, and recognizing mistakes that Local Guides may make unknowingly, ultimately turning them into steps toward mastery.

This session promises an engaging and enlightening conversation, filled with practical insights and actionable takeaways. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced and genuine voices in our community, and to further our journey as Local Guides dedicated to creating a more inclusive and meaningful map for all.

:sparkles: This is a fantastic chance to learn from one of the most inspiring and impactful voices guiding our community. :sparkles:

Hello @Kumaarsantosh,

This Ghumakkad Gossip – Season 2 (V2 Series), Episode 8 is going to be a truly exciting session, and the theme “From Mistakes to Mastery” feels very relatable to all of us as Local Guides. Really looking forward to it! :raising_hands:

I would also like to share that @ErmesT is not only a mentor to many Local Guides but also to several Connect Moderators. Recently, I heard Connect Moderator @KashifMisidia mention this during his Sustainability Spotlight interview, which clearly reflects the impact ErmesT has across the community.

I still remember when I got the opportunity to give a 5-minute presentation at a meet-up hosted by @AjitThite ji, a supportive and respected senior Local Guide in our community. While preparing for it, I came across the inspiring fact that when the Sustainability Star category was first introduced in the Guiding Stars, @ErmesT was among those recognized. That truly motivated me.

On a personal note, he has guided me as well—especially in improving how I prepare presentations and deliver them in larger gatherings. His support and insights have helped me grow over time.

And of course, @Kumaarsantosh, you are someone I frequently reach out to whenever I need guidance or suggestions. Your constant support truly means a lot.

Looking forward to learning from this session and continuing this journey together.

@Kumaarsantosh This is such exciting news! Huge congratulations on keeping the momentum going for Season 2 of Ghumakkad Gossip

I’m especially thrilled to see @ErmesT as the guest speaker. His dedication as an Accessibility Champion is truly inspiring. Highlighting accessibility during local mapping and heritage walks has become a major focus for me lately, so I am really looking forward to hearing his practical tips. Learning how we can all be better advocates for inclusivity on the map—while turning our past mistakes into better contributions—is going to be a fantastic conversation.
