The Bikaner Palace is located inside the Junagarh Fort.
It has several entrance gates.
This is the first and is directly accessible from the main road.
This is the view from inside the main gate, and looking around shows the initial building along the periphery of the fort.
These buildings have beautiful nets carved in stone on the windows.
These windows are called a ‘Jharoka’.
This opens up in a large yard that has a ticketing office and some parking space.
From here vehicles take a right turn to the next gate called the Suraj Pol, meaning the Sun Gate.
From this gate, one can see the next three gates, sequentially called the Chaand Pol or Moon Gate, and the Ganesh Pol.
Between the gates are large spaces.
Don’t forget to turn back 180° and look around the yard for amazing carvings and galleries in that area.
This is a treat to the eyes.
Here is the final gate that is also the most attractive.
This has two elephants and the Mahouts - people who ride the elephants.
This opens up in the final and largest space within the Junagarh Fort.
On the way, there are some steep sloped pathways.
These are huge ramps that are accessible for a wheelchair and also have features like a handrail to facilitate the differently abled.
The best spot for taking photos is also located on the way.
People here climb up the cross-legged staircase and take photos on the platform.
Here is the front yard of the palace inside the Bikaner Fort.
There is ample space for dozens of cars.
The main attraction inside the Junagarh Fort is the magnificent palace.
The small decorative pillar gate is called a Toran.
Here’s the close-up view of the main entrance arch of the Bikaner Palace with 2 majestic cannons on the sides.
I would recommend walking from the main road to the palace through the various gates of the fort.
This is the most enjoyable tourist experience in Bikaner - the Red City of Rajasthan.
