How to Create a Photo Grid in Connect

Connect has a built-in feature to create a photo collage effect.
It is a grid layout of individual photos.

Drag and drop image files into the editor.

• Maximum 5 files can be dropped at a time.
• Common image files like jpg, png, and gif can be selected.

Note: BMP is not one of the supported types
The other supported formats are HEIC, HEIF, WEBP, AVIF, and SVG.

After dropping the files, click the Show Preview button below the editor
The photo collage will be displayed.

Remember This is a grid or tabular layout of the photos, not a single composite photo, as one would expect in a photo collage.

The editor will display the files in the following format:

[grid]
! [Caption1|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters1.jpeg)
! [Caption2|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters2jpeg)
! [Caption3|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters.3jpeg)
! [Caption4|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters.4jpeg)
! [Caption5|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters.5jpeg)
[/ grid]

Note: Simply reorder the lines above to rearrange the photos in the collage.

What can we do further?

  1. Remove the lines [ grid ] and [/ grid ]
This will remove the collage or tabular layout of the photos and list them one below the other.

  2. Edit the caption for each photo by carefully editing the word Caption in the editor.

This can also be done in a better way in the preview window by clicking the pencil icon
Click the Blue Check icon to confirm and save the edit. below the photo.

Remember to click the blue check icon to confirm the edit.

Edit the caption

  1. Add more photos to the collage.
In the editor, add an empty line between two lines for the images.

[grid]
! [Caption1|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters1.jpeg)
! [Caption2|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters2jpeg)
here
! [Caption3|width x height] (upload://randomCharacters.3jpeg)

Drag and drop up to 5 more files from File Explorer on the empty line in the editor.
This will place the new images in the collage at the dropped location.

Bonus Tips

  1. Select and copy an image or a portion of an image in PaintBrush and paste it directly into the editor, in Connect.

This way, there is no need to save a file before dropping it into the editor.

Special Effect:
Use the circular, freeform, or lasso selection if available in your Image editor.
Paste the selection in the editor to display the image in that shape.

Here’s a lasso-selected portion from an image pasted in Connect.

  1. Drag and drop images directly from your web browser into the editor, though keep in mind copyright issues.

You are strongly encouraged to use photos and images belonging to you.

Thanks a lot for sharing this, @TusharSuradkar!

I do this also, when I want to share a screen shot from Windows. However, in this case, I didn’t find a way to enter a caption. Did I miss something?

Danke für die hilfreichen Informationen zur Erstellung von Collagen.
Im Grunde genommen finde ich einzelne Bilder viel besser, ich sehe sie lieber durch die Größe und Übersicht.
