Celebrate World Public Transport Day with Me 🚌✨

Hy Local Guides, :metro:

Today is celebrated as World Public transport Day 🚌 (November 10th). Public transport has always been a backbone of sustainable and cost effective ways of transportation, accessible and environment friendly ways to transit which reduces traffic congestion and connects our communities.

As a local guide, we always have been contributing towards essential public services by sharing our experiences and knowledge on Google Maps.

Google Maps features for Better Ride :bus_stop:

Here’s some glimpse of features on Google Maps, provided by the public transits.

Inclusive and Sustainable Transportation :sparkles:

Public transport should be for everyone and can be a pioneer for sustainability and inclusivity.

@Kumaarsantosh has shared a fantastic recap about visiting Pride Station :station: at Noida Sector 50 which promotes accessibility and inclusion towards transgender :transgender_flag: community.

Kochi Water Metro :ferry: is another example which prioritizes both planet and people, with it being India’s first accessible and sustainable water metro system.

How can we celebrate this Public Transport Day?

It’s our own turn to celebrate  this day with our contributions.

Thank you, @Rahul001, for bringing up yet another important and eco-friendly topic for discussion. Personally, I prefer using the Metro, as it’s well-connected and widely accessible across the NCR–Delhi region. It not only offers comfort and saves time, but also contributes to a greener and cleaner environment, a small yet meaningful step toward sustainability. sustainability

That said, I do drive occasionally, especially when I am traveling with others or when the journey involves multiple stops. This helps balance convenience and connectivity.

In essence, my approach is a blend of public and private transport with public transport taking priority whenever possible, to support our collective eco-friendly journey.

Thank you @Kumaarsantosh for your valuable sustainable comment.

I try to use public transport if traffic is high during specific days. In my city, there’s this circular public bus (which is electric) which circular around city in most times (i.e., there is bus in each stop in between 10mins).

Thank you @TusharSuradkar for your valuable eco friendly :recycling_symbol: comment.

I appreciate your enthusiasm. Waster metro stations area more stunning than the ferry itself.

By the way, Kochi also have Metro stations which is tend to be transgender friendly.

Do you made the metro+museum map youself? It is beautifully made. I think I will use this method for the upcoming metro station in my city.
