cover photo of Celebrate world emoji day with me
Hy Local Guides,
World Emoji Day is celebrated on July 17th every year. Shigetaka Kurita, a Japanese designer in 1999, first created emoji. He was working as a Japanese mobile phone operator and was given the task of designing a set of icons for text messages.
This day was created to celebrate the increasingly popular way of communicating with emoji. Emoji has been an integral part of our lives as we convey ideas and messages through them. It is also a fun and engaging way to communicate with each other. On this day, various emoji-themed celebrations and competitions are taking place around the world.

Thank you @AjitThite for your valuable comment. I have friend who we used play a game using emoji to guess which movie one is referring. I was thinking without this emoji, what would have we done!

Thank you @Annaelisa for your valuable comment. I sometimes also wonder what’s real meaning of some emojis like
which can refer to a person, object, topics, etc.,

Excellent share @Rahul001 ! Happy Emoji Day!
I have found in my case that usually my reviews/photos of restaurants get the most emojis. This could be in the US how restaurants are popular spots - and people usually like to see the reviews and interior (ambience) and food photos before they visit. That could be why more emojis as more users engage with that content.
How about you my friend?
Have you ever had any photos or reviews that got a lot of emoji reactions?
I saw you asked too what is our favorite emoji to use- and I will have to say, similar to @AjitThite - my favorite emoji is
. I like the genuineness of the smile and the uplifted eyes convey a true heartfelt happiness.
