Celebrate Valentine's Month with Me - Challenge : I ❤️ Signs

Hy Local Guides,

February is here, and we all know it as the month of love. It is a time to celebrate & not just romantic love, but the love we have for our friends :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:, our community :busts_in_silhouette: and the places we visit :cityscape:.

Last year, we had an incredible time celebrating together! We filled the map with hearts during the Love is in the air  Challenge, where we hunted for heart-shaped spots on Google Maps & shared our love on Connect. We also got to know some amazing couple local guides in our community through the Local Guides Couples Spotlight.

Challenge : I  Sign

This year, I want to celebrate the love we have for our cities and the places we travel to!

I  Local Guides sticker at Museum of A Ramachandran.

We have all seen them - those iconic, large typographic sculptures or signboards that say “I  City Name” or “I Love business name”. They have become modern landmarks and popular selfie spots in cities around the world, from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur & likely in your local town too.

How to Participate :bullseye:

I challenge you to show your love for a place by sharing these signs!

  • Take a photo :selfie:t2: with an “I  …” sign/sculptures (or any sign expressing love for a city/location).
  • Share it in the comments below :backhand_index_pointing_down:t2:.
  • Include the Google Maps link :link: to the location of the sign & tell us why you love that place.
  • If your city :cityscape: doesn’t have “I  Sign”, any sculptures or signboards with  symbol is good to go for this challenge.
  • Last Date to participate in the Challenge is 28th February, 2026.

Challenge Post

I can’t wait to see how many  signs we can find across the globe. Let’s spread some love on Connect!

Happy Valentine’s Month , everyone.

:blue_heart: I  KIIT | I  NIFT :blue_heart:

More than just signs - these represent home away from home! :house::sparkles:

Why I love these places:

:round_pushpin: KIIT University has been my sanctuary since October 2024. From a Guinean student finding his way in India to becoming Bhubaneswar’s only Level 7 Local Guide - KIIT gave me wings to soar! It’s where I learned that education transcends borders and diversity is our greatest strength.

:round_pushpin: NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) at KIIT campus represents creativity, innovation, and the fusion of tradition with modernity - values that resonate with my journey from rural engineering to cultural ambassador.

These “I ” signs symbolize more than location love - they represent:
:sparkles: Acceptance (welcoming an African student with open arms)
:sparkles: Growth (from newcomer to community leader)
:sparkles: Unity (Republic Day celebrations, blood donation drives)
:sparkles: Impact (1.1M+ photo views documenting this beautiful campus)

From Guinea :guinea: to India :india:, KIIT isn’t just where I study - it’s where I found family, purpose, and a second home! :blue_heart:

Dhanyavad! :folded_hands:

Nicely captured, dear @vishal_bbt :+1:

Do you also remember the place?
If you can include the Google Maps link, that will be great too :+1:

@Rahul001 … It’s gonna be fun…

@Rahul001 Sharing love സ്നേഹം with you and everyone in the community

The below is the “I love KL” - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a very popular photographed location (Google Maps). Kuala Lumpur is home to me. And it has same initials as where your native place. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

And “I Love SG” from Singapore Sentosa Lego store (Google Maps). Sentosa Island is one of the most entertaining location and attraction in Singapore.

And one from “我爱厦门” - I love Xiamen, from Xiamen in China (Google Maps). Xiamen is a very modern island city and nice attraction, as well as a very historical place in Fujian China.

Map Location

**Samsung Opera House, Bangalore **

Location:
Samsung Opera House is located at the iconic junction of Brigade Road and Residency Road in central Bengaluru, one of the city’s busiest commercial and cultural hubs. It stands as a prominent landmark near Church Street and MG Road, attracting both tech enthusiasts and tourists.

History & Transformation:
Originally built during the British era (around the 1930s), the building served as an Opera theatre and cultural venue with distinctive colonial architecture. Over the decades, it fell into disuse before being leased and restored by Samsung. After a major renovation lasting about two years, it reopened in 2018 as the world’s largest Samsung Mobile Experience Centre. The historic façade was preserved while the interior was transformed into a futuristic technology space.

Architecture & Design:
The structure showcases colonial Gothic architectural elements, with arches, balconies, and a sloping tiled roof typical of early 20th-century colonial buildings. The heritage exterior contrasts with the modern, high-tech interior, creating a blend of old-world charm and futuristic design.

Role as a Tech & Cultural Hub:
Today, Samsung Opera House is more than just a retail store—it is a technology, lifestyle, and cultural hub. It showcases Samsung’s latest smartphones, wearables, TVs, smart home appliances, and connected devices. The venue also hosts product launches, workshops, concerts, fashion shows, gaming events, and community activities throughout the year.

Visitor Experience:
Visitors can explore interactive tech zones, attend workshops, experience smart home setups, and participate in events. It has become a popular hangout spot for young people, tech lovers, and city explorers.

Overall Significance:
Samsung Opera House symbolizes Bengaluru’s blend of heritage and innovation—a historic landmark transformed into a modern experience centre that reflects the city’s identity as India’s tech capital.

Hi @Rahul001
In reference to your challenge post, here’s my : I LoVe  PuThuVype Beach sign.

Why do I love  this sign?

Because this place marks a very special first in my life. It was here that I volunteered for a beach clean-up :orange_heart:
meet-up by you @Rahul for the very first time. Here’s Clean Up Link

We reached here early in the morning, when dawn had not yet broken. As we arrived in the soft pre-sunrise :sun: light , this sign I Love:heart: PuThuVyPe Beach was the very first thing I saw.
It felt like a warm welcome , a quiet confirmation that we had reached the right place.

Soon after, the sky slowly brightened, and the beach came alive with the most peaceful dawn:sunrise:

That beautiful  sunrise :sunrise_over_mountains: followed by our heartfelt clean-up activity is a memory that still brings a calm smile to my face :purple_heart:

What made the day even more special was how strangers  on the beach noticed us and began joining in.

One by one, people lent their hands :handshake: In that moment, it was no longer just a meet up, it became a shared act of love and :orange_heart: responsibility.
Watching strangers come together for a common cause was deeply :two_hearts: touching.

That is why this :heart_hands:t2: I Love  Puthuvype:heart_hands:t2: sign holds such a special place in my heart  .

On Valentine’s Day :beating_heart: , what better way to celebrate love than by remembering a place that awakened a new kind of love  within me ,love  for community, for nature, and for meaningful action.

I love :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Puthuvype Beach not only for its beauty, but for the beautiful hearts it brought together that day:yellow_heart:

:heart_with_ribbon:Happy Valentine Day Everyone :heart_with_ribbon:
