Let’s celebrate Assistance Dog Day, August 4th & recognise their help to persons with disabilities & other medical conditions. Assistance Dogs are accessibility dogs that are used for visually impaired & deaf, diabetes service dogs, seizure & medical alert dogs, emotional support dogs, allergy detection dogs etc.
Assistance Dogs promote invaluable support to our community as they are seen as an Accessibility. They are highly trained to be near their handlers & can perform specific tasks.

As part of @FalguniP’s Paws on Map Challenge, I am glad to highlight the importance of supporting local accessible pet friendly businesses on Google Maps.
How Local Guides can support an Accessible Pet Friendly community?
- Writing Review
- mention businesses you visit are accessible & pet friendly in review if the business is visually accessible & pets are allowed inside. - Adding Photo
- photo shares more awareness. Look for photo signs in businesses that put forward welcoming customers with pets. Take a photo & upload it on Google Maps. - Adding Dog Friendliness
- now dog friendliness option can be seen when reviewing parks on Google Maps. Writing it up makes sure the park is dog friendly to individuals who need accessibility.

- Answering questions
- Google Maps also asks local guides whether a business allows dogs/cats inside/outside. You can contribute towards that to make the business pet friendly.
Take these steps can ensure Google Maps reflect accurate information on pet friendliness & make local businesses more inclusive.
