Yes Exactly Google should have plan for us
Many people will say that we have to contribute for free. If they want to do it for sure, go for it. Google does make money on maps, and unlike youtubers are not paid anything because there is no way for them to track our monetization per person. As a Google Guide, not only I donât make anything, I actually have to spend my own money to pay for Google services to host the photos. What can be done? Well, for 36 million views on my photos perhaps I can get a phone with camera so I can contribute even more? Perhaps I can host the photos for free? Maybe they can actually create a perk store for us where we can buy redeem things once we reach levels, and numbers? We are taken for granted, and I hate Google now for that. I have no respect for them anymore and people behind this product. I will move to another company at some point. And again, if you are one of these idiots that say we have to do everything for free, go and do it yourself, your feedback is f@IN useless!

Yes, you are paid but not directly⌠they pay you through some of their services⌠for instance getting a discount and many more

Their contribution, everyone knows the huge profits that Google companies get in all fields, and it is fair for shareholders to share content in Google Maps with a percentage of the profits according to the size of their contributions and in a fair way, and that is when they prove their credibility, efficiency and quality of content

Local guides better should be enthusiastic volunteers to update google map to help goigle & others who rely on goigle information.

Creo que Google debe de retribuĂr de alguna forma el apoyo de todos los que contribuimos en Google Maps, yo se que todos lo hacemos desinteresadamente y por amor al prĂłjimo, pero a poco no estarĂa estupendo que Google pudiera regalarnos una taza, una playera o unas plumas con el.Logo de Google?, digo creo que seria justo?, ustedes que piensan?
Amigo contribuimos por pasiĂłn y amor al prĂłjimo, pero crĂŠeme que GOOGLE nunca nos va a dar algo a cambio, creo mas bien que para la compaĂąĂa su creencia corporativa es que nos hace un favor al dejarnos participar en su programa, asĂ que amigo no pienses que nos van a dar algo mas de lo que ya nos da que es el contenido jajajaj
Ciao ragazzi, sono italiana e purtroppo non parlo lâinglese o altre lingue. Avevo una domanda per tutti voi. Io ho avuto sul mio profilo Maps piĂš di 1,2 mln visualizzazioni sulle foto che ho contribuito⌠ma non câè un compenso? O meglio come si può fare questo mestiere come lavoro? Grazie a tutti per la risposta
maybe youâre right, but this is purely volunteer work.

I pride myself in taking time to review the place I visit and add cool photos of the places, food and drink that I have the fortune to enjoy. I have over 41 million photo views which I find really rewarding. What I am slightly cheesed off with it that people using the likes of Instagram put a lot less effort in and seem to get lots of followers and acknowledgement from companies, such as invites to open days and special treatment. It just seems that Google guides really arenât very recognised in the grand scheme of things, which is a shame when we spend so much time contributing. I donât know if itâs just here in the UK that itâs like this, or elsewhere in the world?
I donât expect a red carpet, free food and a huge following - thatâs not why Iâm doing it, it just appears to me that thereâs a different level of support and recognition on other platforms.

thank you for exposing your concern, please note that Local Guides is a completely volunteer program and no ârewardsâ are promised nor planned. What is the core of the program is the passion the Local Guides are putting in to contribute to the platform to improve even more, as we are users of this platform as well and we do use those information too⌠this in my opinion is already a reward when I need to search for a place, seek an information, drive to a specific point with such an accuracy level, for free.
Then on top on this perks for different locations may be offered from time to time as a thank you gift for contributing great content on Google Maps. To maximize your chances of being eligible for them, continue to add high quality contributions to Google Maps. Local Guides who have opted to receive the benefit emails will be updated with any new rewards. We encourage you to check your email settings and update/monitor your email preferences. Moreover from time to time there could be also other recognitions to Local Guides who are outstanding in their contributions, and those might be, not limited to, in being highlighted here on Connect, on the Local Guides Newsletter, in the Guiding Stars selection, or invited at the Connect Live events.
But again this should not be your main reason of contribution, when it comes it is a âniceâ to have, when not our contributions are already enough .
