All I need to do remove all the Plastic label from the body of the bottle, remove the cap of the bottle. A 7/11 card called Nanaco, touch the machine’s touchpad. Machine opened its Dash and put my plastic bottle one by one inside.
Upto 2 litre bottle can be recycled here. and upto 50 bottles can put here per day. Points are accumulated on the card for each bottle. Isn’t it so cool recycling system.
7/11 Convenience Store is already added to Google Maps. But I have added this plastic bottle recycling machine to the Google Maps under 7/11 Directory as a PET Bottle Recycle Point - on the category of Recycling Drop-off Location
@Trishatishu Trisha! This is such an amazing initiative, and your detailed explanation makes it so easy to understand how the PET bottle recycling machine works. I love how 7/11 is making recycling convenient and rewarding through the Nanaco card points system. Your efforts in mapping this recycling point on Google Maps are commendable—it will help many others find and use this eco-friendly facility. Thank you for your contribution to a cleaner, greener world! Keep inspiring others with your actions. #LocalGuidesCleanTheWorld
Japan’s recycling system has been in place since 2000, and a points system has also been active for over a decade. This particular 7-Eleven machine just makes these familiar systems a bit more user-friendly.
While Japan’s recycling system appears effective at first glance, it’s actually linked to some international problems. If you’re interested, I encourage you to delve deeper.
