Hotels and lodging properties have always been a hit in the 360 imagery world: if you’re there, you want to share the photos with others - and if you want to go there, you want to make sure the room has a nice view.
They can also play a big role in movies: many Hollywood films set their plot in magnificent hotels and some of them can even be considered as a main character in the story. Have you ever watched The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), for instance?
Although the hotel in the movie doesn’t exist in real life (unfortunately), the set location was inspired in the combination of the historical art nouveau department store Karstadt in Germany and the Corinthia Hotel Budapest. Take a look:
Corinthia Hotel Budapest - by Maarten Motté, Budapest, Hungary - inspiration for the 2014 movie The Grand Budapest Hotel:
We have found many other examples below of beautiful, exotic, tiny and majestic hotels that were featured in movies, photographed in 360 and published by users all over the world in Google Maps:
Hotel Sidi Driss – photo by Roman Erlitz - Matmatat-Al-Qadimal, Tunisia. Appeared in: Star Wars:
Grandhotel Pupp - by František Oplt Fastmedia, at – Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Found in 007 Casino Royale:
Fontainebleau Miami Beach - photo by Simon Howe - Miami, FL, USA. It can be seen in many films, including the classics The Bodyguard and Scarface:
Taj Lake Palace - by Peter Holton, in Udaipur, India. Inspiration for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel:
Can’t get enough? Check out these other examples: Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara were in Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza for Carol (2015); the dystopian story of The Lobster (2015) were placed in the Parknasilla Resort and Spa, Ireland. The Shining (1980), starring a young Jack Nicholson, was filmed in The Stanley Hotel - Colorado, USA. Carrie Bradshaw and her friends in Sex and the City 2 (2010) took a fancy break from New York at the La Mamounia, Morocco.
