Add avoid Small & Narrow roads for Navigation settings

The idea is to add another extra option in Google Maps navigation settings, so that the route can avoid small & narrow roads during the journey

This idea is prompted by many situations where road users who are driving larger sized vehicles not to get caught going through roads they are not supposed to go through. Although it's quite clear that the vehicle mode is only for 4 wheeler cars only. Also possibly a clearer indication that the navigation is only for cars, and not guaranteed for larger vehicles.

Just recently someplace in South India, 2 gas tankers got stuck for hours going through some small village road while navigating with Google Maps. Just sharing.

Thank you @MashaPS

I had tried looking for similar posts to mine, but I suppose I used the wrong keywords. I appreciate being brought into the conversation. I hope this issue will be dealt with soon!

@MashaPS should I add to a closed discussion?
I was coming back to this thread to add an update when I realized it was from 2018 and closed. I thought adding to a closed post was bad form.

Also, would you be able to share why this post is closed? The issue mentioned was not solved as far as I've seen. I'm confused as to what other reasons could a post be closed if not a violation or solution?

This is the feedback I gave Google Maps though without the pictures.

We need more map route options.

Google Maps route options.png

Avoid
* Low Bridges
* Weight Limits
* Thin Roads
* Unpaved Roads
* School Zones

Here's my reasoning:

The first three are safety hazards. Special vehicles like U-Hauls hauling the family car, pick-ups hauling farm equipment, RVs, Semis, and buses are just a few examples of who would need these options.

Thin roads and unpaved roads are also safety concerns for general vehicles. Especially during inclement weather when the roads are slippery. Many cars can get stuck in the mud of a dirt or an under-maintained gravel drive and thin roads that aren't designated one-way can lead to either collision or slipping off when trying to pass during rainy weather.

School zones are mostly for convenience but I'm sure the bus drivers would appreciate less traffic for safety reasons as well. I can imagine how hazardous it is to arrive or leave the school with a long line of traffic. However, if we can choose to avoid highways, I don't see why we shouldn't choose to avoid school zones to save a little time when we're late for work.

For all of these options, a driver who has never traveled a certain route before wouldn't know to avoid these roads until they are already on them. Being able to drag and drop or add a stop to the route is not a solution in this case Yes, no-thru truck roads have signs but most of the time rerouting isn't an option by the time a trucker sees it. Yes, the same is true for low bridges but newer drivers can't turn around a bulky vehicle hauling another vehicle that easily.

Here's an example
Norwood Ga Truck Route wrong way.png

Academy St is actually a no-thru traffic street. It is only intended for those who live on this street or to reach the church at the end... Not for daily traffic use from the highway.Norwood Ga Truck Route correct way.png

This is the correct route for daily traffic. As you can see, it is impossible to tell from the route that traffic is not allowed on this road and most drivers are so confused by the time they see any signs that they simply ignore them.

Please, fix this soon!
