[RECAP] Accessible Delhi Episode 14 - District Court Complex

After the lockdown, Delhi is opening up in phases and people are increasingly visiting various government offices like the District Court for related official work like filing affidavits, registrations, and other legal work.

In Delhi, the District Court Complex Building is huge comprising of various buildings and people need to move from one office to the other.

Accessible Delhi - District Court Complex

This meetup was part of the Accessibility for All Movement.

In this episode of the Accessible Delhi Meetup, visited the Delhi District Court Complex on October 31, 2020, at 10 am and:

1. Checked the accessibility of the main entrance.

2. Checked the availability of ramps at the entrance.

3. Checked the availability of ramps in the building complex.

4. Checked the accessibility of various washrooms/toilets.

5. Checked the accessibility of the various parking lots.

Here are some photos of the various parts of the building captured during the meetup:

♿  ✔️  The accessibility features are seen right at the main entrance where there is reserved parking for the differently-abled.

♿  ✔️  Also, some other entrances to the court complex have well-paved and leveled roads to facilitate using a wheelchair.

♿  ✔️  At the security check, there are clear boards displaying the availability of free wheelchairs to those who need it.

♿  ✔️  Also, the entrance to the security check area has a ramp

♿  ✔️  The ramp also has handrails to aid the easy passage of the differently-abled.

♿  ❌  The entrance to one of the courts is not accessible though.

♿  ✔️  The entrance to the visitor's parking is seen well-paved and leveled to facilitate a wheelchair.

♿  ✔️  The entrance to the judicial officer's parking is also seen as well-paved and leveled to facilitate a wheelchair.

♿  ✔️  Throughout the court complex, there are tactile paths to aid the visually-impaired people to navigate around easily.

♿  ✔️  The tactile paths are also seen leading on to ramps.

♿  ✔️  The ramps have railings as well to aid the differently-abled.

♿  ✔️  There are small and big ramps wherever there is a level-change to aid wheelchair access.

Overall the Delhi district court Complex is very well equipped to address the needs of the differently-abled people.
