LAGOS: “Lasgidi or Eko”

Lagos: “Lasgidi or Eko” as fondly called by Nigerians is considered the most populous state in Nigeria with over 16 million people as of 2015.

Lagos is by far one of the most interesting cities in Nigeria, and certainly one of the fascinating cities in Africa.

The former capital of Nigeria, Lagos city was created on May 27th, 1967.

It is referred to as the “centre of excellence” because it is the financial hub of the nation.

The city is characterised by its vigour and an intensely motivating atmosphere, it is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean featuring beautiful beaches and exotic nightspots.

In recent years, Lagos has become Africa’s most bustling city and one of its economic powerhouse.

Things to know about Lagos and places to visit:

Murtala Mohammed International Airport coming to Lagos from other parts of the world this is your exit route.

At this airport always be cautious of your luggage. Don't accept any service or help from anybody except you confirm that are paying or it is free. insist to know always.

The best means of transport around town is UBER services; the online taxi. if not any taxi you are taking you should confirm the price before going. insist always.

IKEJA is the Lagos capital where most of the government offices are located including the governor's office and the palace of "Oba" the king.

place of attraction in IKEJA is the Museum of Afro beat legend FELA Kuti. the museum is called KALAKUTA  Museum Ikeja. FELA is a musician, writer, Human right activist and singer.

APAPA the home of two most prominent ports in Nigeria. Apapa wharf and Tincan Island port. centre of import and export. 

Victoria Island or Lagos Island is the commercial hub and the home to exotic beaches and relaxation centres.

for local and native wears you will get all at BALOGUN market at a good price; but this is a very busy market that you will always be at alert because of fraudsters.

Tinubu Square is located at this market, close to the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Tafawa Balewa Square is located here in Victoria Island where Nigeria's independence celebration took place on 1st October, 1960.

other places to visit in Victoria Island are National Museum, Freedom park, first cathedral build by Christian Missionary Society (CMS), Lagos Yarch club and Eko Hotel.

Lekki the second bussiness hub this is where local and international companies displays their talents and bussiness charismas. this is where Lekki Free Trade zone is located. After bussiness is pleasure; Lekki is the home to Exotic beaches like Elegushi Royal beach, Tropicana resort, LUFASI Nature park. if you are art person dont come to Lekki and go with out visiting NIKE Art and Gallery. this is but a few to mention.

Annual Events in Lagos:

Lagos Maraton. february every year

CBN Tennis competetion May every year

Eyo Festival the time use to change. during this festival people attending should not do the following: No smoking, Bicycle, Motorcycle, sandals are not allowed. the mascurades is known to beat person who break rules using their staffs.
