Electricity was produced by a generator driven by a motor that was using methane gas. The methane gas can be produced by an anaerobic digestion of sewage, using a microorganism, called Methanogens. This is pretty common in wastewater treatment.

Oh @GeorgesHR, a simple search about Methanogens can be sufficient. Methane is the basic and simpliest molecule for the life.
Most of the methane that we find in nature, is produced by anaerobic natural process
Organic chemistry is very interesting, and very easy in the basic part
