Special arrow head pointing your destination office or entrance when navigating Google map.

Hello Local Guide, I noticed that Google map is very much helpful when searching for a place that you have never been to before and it helps you see the distance it takes you to get there, the problem starts when you want to know if the entrance is at which side, either the left, right, back or front especially if the building is a flat where it is between streets around it and there is no fans, or parking in-front of it which can give you clues and the building got multiple entrances , for example a U.S Consulate offices which does not provide parking services or may be your final destination entrance is at the center of the building, it becomes difficult for you to tell if you have to approach from which side and the only thing you have is the outside picture of the whole building or flat which may be a 360 degrees photo or top view as shown from the below picture.

It raised a question to me that what can be used to solve this? and I think that at the end of your destination when you are navigating, there must be an arrow showing directions from the main road or street to that particular office that you are going to and may be the arrow  ends at the t urn style entrance or the lift if there is one, that special arrow may have a different color from that one we are using to navigate from the roads to make it stand out and not to confuse anyone, The arrow can be in a form of an L shape with an arrow head. This can eliminate stress and it can save you time from trying to guess the exact entrance. It will be better if this may be a feature that Local Guides can be able to add to every existing business or building.

I hope others may have a clear understanding of what I am trying to convey her and may be you can convey this in a better way that can help others get the exact point easily. I will check your comments and see what you think.

Thank you.

Good idea, @Raphael-Mahumane. Would be especially helpful at alrge office complexes and shopping centres.

For places like universities or malls with multiple parking lots, it would be cool if Navigation instructions automatically guide you to the building entrance or parking lot closest to your destination.

For all photo contributions : Google can ask the direction w.r.t entrance/front from which the photo was taken.

This could be an optional feature which if selected and given by the local guide can help the user to understand and map the exact location.

This is needed especially for large buildings/parks when guide due to xyz reasons is nt able to capture the entrance/front view..

Hello @Prince80,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

The Special arrow head pointing your destination office or entrance when navigating Google map. is a similar idea, so I'm merging yours to that one.

Было бы отлично, если появится функция на Google Maps - указатель входа в здание. Сейчас можно легко найти здание и придётся его обходить несколько раз, прежде чем получится найти вход.

Hi @oTyler I'm not sure about your region, but in mine when you navigate Maps pops up after the journey and asks if you were taking to a convenient street entrance. If you weren't you have the opportunity to move the pointer.

@PaulPavlinovich, как видно на картинке - маршрут пешком указан не очень точно, вход отмечен стрелкой. Так на большинстве зданий.

I see it's becoming more important to add the entrances and parking areas to the POIs on Maps. Consider when you arrive at a Mall, Shopping Center, or University Campus. The pin is typially located right in the center of the POI and that might not be reachable by any route (car or walking) meaning the trip ends "close" but not exactly where you're heading. If we can add the possible entrances & exits, it would offer a clearer view of the trip.

Also for all the ride-sharing apps that are based on Google Maps would make use of this activity - instead of trying to meet based on live location (which is sometimes not very accurate) or discussing the location with the driver (who might not know which gate to approach) it could be already registered on the POI as a different entrance/gate.

The same applies to Parking areas. Instead of reaching a point close to the pin that has not parking, the locations could be marked clearly from the beginning such that arriving at a certain POI with a distinction between driving (and needing to park) or ride-sharing (and just needing the entrance).

Currently Maps has started something similar, but very primitive - after finishing a Nav, sometimes the survey asks if you arrived at a convenient entrance. Applying this new feature will change that to a more decisive and fool-proof approach.
