Adding platform no. On local trains transit

Hello Googlers,

I recently shifted to Mumbai,India

As I am new to this place most of the time I depend on Google maps for transit and to explore the city.

I was very much happy using google maps as it guided during the exploring the city.

As local train is believed to be lifeline of the city ,I thought of taking local train from Thane to Mulund .. all route to station and timing of trains was properly shown on maps, but I found difficult in finding the platform No. ,there was nearly 8-10 platforms in Thane station .

If platform No. Was added on Google maps it will be more accurate and hassle free.

Anyways I caught the right platform after enquiring some local people.

If platform No. Is added along with timing it will help millions.

Hope you will add this feature in your future updates.

Peace

😃✌️

@ShravanJain the Googlers read all the ideas, I don't need to convey it to anyone 🙂

Don't limit it to just Mumbai, If an idea only has a very limited local reach it probably would not be implemented, if an idea has merit across many or perhaps most of the regions in which Maps serves then it would be more likely to be implemented.

It is worth noting that all transit information comes to Google via a single channel through the Transit Partner program. https://maps.google.com/landing/transit/index.html

Hello @PaulPavlinovich

I suggested my idea to Mumbai local train because over 5million commuters use this transit on a daily basis!!

And  google maps features varies from place to place like in India we have motorcycle enabeld route or rickshaw availability in a railwaystion which may not be available in Melbourne or other city..

@ShravanJain this may be useful if implemeted, I can say almost all the train stations does not have platform numbers on the map even here in South Africa, and that can help save us time and reduce stress and our safety, remember that asking local people sometimes you may be putting your safety at risk especially at night or in a place were that is not crowded with people, others can take advantage of you.

Big up to that idea.

Thanks.

Hello @ShravanJain,

I would like to ask you to check the answer of @ErmesT. He gave you a good overview of how the Idea Exchange works.

I will move your post to the already existing idea.

I think the platform number changes from time to time, wellwhave to regularly update the platform numbers then..
