Unexplored India

Every kingdom or empire has one thing in common and that is their forts. Each fort has something unique to it or has a rich past attached to it and so happens with this one as well.

This photograph is of Moti Daman Fort on the banks of Daman Ganga River located in Daman, India. A fort which was built by Portuguese Colonists in late 16th century to fight against local Muslim rulers and later became a centre of Portuguese control in some regions of India. Though Portuguese never gained vast areas like Britishers but they had a lasting impact on the Western Coasts of India.

The Moti Daman Fort had two entrances which are still intact and the fort is used by local government for offices etc. and houses one of the popular church in its area i.e., Bom Jesus Church.

I call it “Mini Goa” …have a visit to this part of the country…

Hi @AnshukMitra

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Is this place famous among tourists?

When is the best time to visit it?

What impressed you the most during this trip?

By the way, I relabeled your post and it now appears in the Travel, as it fits better there.

Hi @Aruni thank you for showing your interest…

Yes, it is famous among local tourists(Indian Nationals) mostly as foreigners don’t know about it.

You can visit Daman between the months of October-June leaving the months of July, August and September as it rains heavenly in this region but if you like rainfall then you can visit that time as well…

I got impressed to see that still there are cities in India which have natural beauty, quite beaches, noise and pollution free environment, wonderful architecture which still have that essence.

Thank you @AnshukMitra for the tag surely I am much fascinated by historical sites as they tell a story on their own about a country’s past. These historical monuments are very important and they need to be known. Indeed they need to be known and the more we know about them the more we know the history of your country.

I like your excellent pictures as they make us fill like we have been there. Just a look and you can visualize the life inside them at that time and the atmosphere of war lingering around. The fear of a siege.

If I may ask is this place included in the UNESCO museums and monuments sites to protect world heritage?

Hi @AnshukMitra

I beg to differ, I can see this place very well explored and an established tourist destination with proper visitor timings. Maybe you wanted to say that this place receives very less tourist as compared to others?

Hi @AnshukMitra ,
for me, person who grew up in a landlocked territory (Belarus), your opinion is interesting that any empire or kingdom is determined by the presence of forts. India is a unique country, which I am sure would be interesting to visit !!!
Have a nice day!!!

Hi @katydarhel ,

You must visit India in coming future. I am sure that you will love the vibrant culture of India and do come between the months of October-March as it is the best time to visit.

Do share about Belarus as well as I don’t know much about it. Belarus must be an adventurous country.

Hi @AnshukMitra ,
yes, you are right, I should visit India once. I have never been to the East and any of the countries of the East will be interesting to me. As for Belarus, my next post will be about a small town in Belarus. You write that Belarus is probably an adventurous country. Belarus is becoming more open and there is already a visa-free regime with many countries.
Have a nice day !!!
