For over five incredible years, the Leaderboards have served as a beacon of inspiration, celebrating the remarkable contributions of top Google Maps Local Guides from across the globe. Among these, the monthly Movers & Shakers boards have shone particularly brightly, spotlighting the most dynamic contributors driving world-class results on Maps.

With the final monthly stats now in, the stage is set: it’s almost time to crown our 2025 Annual Movers & Shakers!

From the legendary members of the Million Points Club to the rising stars across every level, these leaderboards celebrate the heavy hitters who earned the most points, garnered the highest photo views, and achieved “star status” with their most impactful content throughout the year.

:trophy: 2025 Honorable Mentions: The Ones to Watch

Before the official 2025 Annual Champions are unveiled, we must acknowledge the “Power Players” who dominated the monthly boards this past year. These contributors set a blistering pace that kept us all on the edge of our seats:

  • @SarathUpendran: A true force of nature, notably achieving a “hat-trick” by leading the Point Movers & Shakers for three consecutive months and finishing December with a staggering 177,624 points.
  • @Abotorab: A master of consistency, remaining at the pinnacle of the points leaderboard throughout the entire second half of the year.
  • @Herve_Andrieu: The reigning virtuoso of Media and Photo views, frequently clocking over 80 million views in a single month—a monumental contribution to the global community.
  • @SamanthaSheehy: A top-tier Level 10 guide who remained a constant, inspiring fixture in the top 5 for points and activity all year long.
  • @abermans: Dominated the Video category late in the year, notably shattering records in November with over 33 million views.
  • @claude_richard: The standout in the “Star Photo” category, consistently capturing the world’s attention with high-impact imagery.

2025 was a year of massive growth, with 629 new Local Guides joining the leaderboards. We’ve seen incredible activity spikes from every corner of the globe:

  • India & Bangladesh: Continuing to produce some of our most prolific and dedicated point earners.
  • The UK & USA: Providing strong, steady contributions that define the photo and video categories.
  • Germany, Barbados & Australia: Leading the charge in community engagement and driving the conversation on the leaderboards.

:chequered_flag: The Final Countdown

You’ll recall that the Annual Movers & Shakers Badge—the first community-driven badge of its kind, designed by @AdrianLunsong and myself—was awarded to 87 top achievers last year. For 2025, the competition has never been closer.

While the December 2025 boards (posted on January 10th) gave us a thrilling final glimpse, the annual aggregate is what truly counts. It reveals who stayed the course, contributed consistently, and “moved and shook” the world of Maps over the full 12 months.

I couldn’t agree with you more @Laurent 177,624 points in a month by @SarathUpendran is incredible. I described it as staggering. It’s like becoming a Level 10 Local Guide almost twice from scratch in the one month when of course it takes most years, in fact often many years.

@AdamGT , I am honoured and humbled to be mentioned along side these amazing and legendary LGs around the globe. The leaderboard was a great inspiration for me to keep on contributing every day and break my own milestones over and over.

Well I would actually thank google maps for that , as approval rate for road edits increased drastically in the December which did increase my point count.

just to brag, I earned 1 million points in 2025 alone :wink:,

A big congratulations on your regular monthly domination of the points movie and shakers category @SarathUpendran and as I’ve said before, 177,624 points in a month is just staggering. When it comes to points, you’ve not only broken your own milestones but left everyone else in your wake. I’m pleased to hear you say that the Leaderboards have been a major inspiration to your contributions. You certainly have been a prime mover. As you noted, I didn’t mention names but we all know who they are @tony_b ]. We all contribute in different ways and when I saw Dexter’s 2025 numbers, I felt that I should make at least some mention, subtle as it is, of those active behind the scene regularly engaging with, supporting others and driving the conversation on the monthly Leaderboards. Having said that, we all know who that Local Guide is from Barbados but who are those from Germany and Australia?
