Yes it sounds simple and in fact, it is simple @Peadar and as @tony_b kindly mentioned, it’s simple arithmetic so good luck for next year. As you can see, there are many metric areas that you can specialize in or if you’re like the champions and want to be up there with the likes of @Kumaarsantosh, @MarkAuchincloss, @Annaelisa and @PrasadVR just to mention a few, then focus generally across as many metrics as you can.

My delta views for 2024 were 17-18 million @AdamGT

I first showed up ever on the leaderboards on March 2024 listing

this taken away from my December listing would make the list

I think @AdamGT

I think many Local Guides, like you, are surprised to be on one or more of these end of year leaderboards @tony_b but I’m sure that you will agree, it’s nice to recognize the movers & shakers across as many Local Guides metrics as we can.

The star media boards are certainly interesting as many were similarly impacted however, it is what it is, some made it and others didn’t.

@tony_b,

Really happy that you DID appear on so many of the categories. Congrads!

What has me completely surprised is that I appeared Top 10 in 2 categories. Wouldn’t have even known about without a quick email from @Rednewt74 showing me this latest of Adam’s posts. This was truly the ‘coast factor’, as I haven’t really actively contributed meaningfully since Nov '23. HOPING that the coast will continue and will join the Billionaire’s Club by the end of the year.

Congrats again!!!

Oh no I don’t like leaving things as they are if there is some problem @Peadar. If, as you say you should be on a certain leaderboard but you are not then there must be a reason for this and the other thing, if it has happened to you then it could well have happened to others so let’s get to the bottom of this.

Just because you have delta photo views for 2024 of 17-18 million doesn’t necessarily mean that you qualify for inclusion in the photo views leaderboards! And the same applies even if you had 100 million views :wink: and from what I can see, you ran foul of condition #4 as detailed in the readme section.

As I’ve mentioned before, many Local Guides will be surprised to see that they made it onto one board or another and even more surprised that they made it onto the top 10 or as was @Kumaarsantosh, onto the Champions board but it is what it is and all based on the numbers.

By the way, you were lucky not to have gotten caught up as @Peadar and others had on condition #4 detailed in the readme section. Just saying!!

Finally, I see that you are not showing your Maps profile link on your Connect profile. This is the default on the new Connect but I recommend that you change this:

  1. Click this link
  2. Check the “Display my Google Maps profile link publicly” option
  3. Save Changes

@AdamGT ,
Thanks for the note regarding the Connect profile. Didn’t even know about it…and it’s still blank. (at least until I can replicate what’s at Maps into the Connect space). Did this profile become available last year when the new interface was implemented?

As always Adam, thank you for all that you do for the Connect and T100 community. Without you, I would have had no metrics to see how I was doing relative to other efforts in the Connect group. - Steve

It’s there now @shunsader, perhaps you might need to refresh your screen and like you many don’t/didn’t know about this. The profile link became unavailable as the default when the new Connect was implemented.

Thanks for your appreciation Steve. By everyone participating we all gain a much better perspective of our contributions and achievements and are inspired and motivated by each other to improve the quality of our contributions and achieve better outcomes not only in terms of metrics like points and views, but also in terms of the impact that our contributions have on the respective places that we visit.

Keep doing what you’re doing and get in and rattle the feathers in that Billionaire’s Club :wink: :wink:

Congratulations to you too @shunsader

I can see what you mean by the “coast factor”, where you’re seeing the results now from the work you did earlier.

You excelled in the Views categories rather than the Contributions categories, as you aren’t actively contributing as much now. Due to your massive number of photos in the previous year, you always have something there to be viewed. And as you were always very insistent on just the best photos, the likelihood of your photos being near the top of the list at any POI is working in your favour.

I’ve often seen @AdamGT suggest quality over quantity, but somehow you’ve done both. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the clarification @AdamGT, yes rules are rules, I did read condition #4 & imagined I was entering both my photo/video (volume, reach & Impact) every month correctly as not to inflate my photos/photo views values with videos/video views values, would you be as kind as to let me know exactly where I ran foul so I can avoid this going forward, I know your busy but I would love to know this as would other’s I’m sure, apart from being on opposite sides of the planet LGC on my phone is acting very quirky at the moment so if I don’t reply it’s because I can only do on desktop when I get home in the evening time

@tony_b ,

I concur with Adam in regards to quality over quantity…usually only 3 photos submitted for most storefronts, and after Google decides what photo it liked, the other get deleted. HOWEVER, after having shot over 8500 locations in 2023, I’d take additional photos if I knew it would be a high traffic winner, and still delete all but a couple within a couple weeks. The only time I’d save more than 2 would be if 3 got great engagement/viewings and might clarify where the real entrance of the establishment.
HOPING that I’ll find the time to rejoin the Maps campaign in early 2026, but need to see how much work I get done this year. Thanks Tony.

Yes, I firmly believe that we all should adopt a quality over quantity strategy and that’s why very early on in the history of the Leaderboards, I introduced specific boards based on metrics such views per photo, views per video and star views per day.

Hello @Peadar

I’m pleased that you asked because it shows that you want to learn and improve. Having had a quick look at your history, in your case it’s really simple. From the start you’ve had between 8 and 12 videos in your contribution portfolio and while you have
been entering both my photo/video (volume, reach & Impact) every month correctly for quite a while now, sadly you did not do this at the start.

As you know, in terms of building and maintaining your Local Guides contributions history, the Leaderboards System does the bulk of the work for you. All you have to do is use it to check and where necessary update your data once a month.

Oops, when you say the start @AdamGT
be more specific
I never entered yours (both my) yes typo
it’s auto generated when I log in to update
yes I tweak because I don’t know when auto generated day is in any given month
you could hang me out to dry saying Peadar you only came along in March 2024
Reply appricated

Wow!! Your life is really structured, Steven. You already know you won’t have time for this in 2025 but you might make a comeback in 2026. With almost 11.000 photos and more than 100 having over a million views, you might be able to coast through another year earning dividends from the investments you made in your first year.

This is an interesting case study. We’ll be watching you keenly.
