Top 100 Google Maps Local Guides Movers & Shakers (2024)

Reading the 2024 Movers & Shakers leaderboards

Briefly, this is what you need to know about the leaderboards in this post. For more details about the Top 100 leaderboards see the leaderboard documentation:

  1. Simply stated, the term Movers & Shakers is used to describe the Local Guides that have achieved the most in terms of Local Guide contributions (e.g. Roads and Places added), and achievements (e.g. points, photo views or star views). Therefore, the leaderboards in this post indicate how active each Top 100 Local Guide has been in the different Local Guides contribution areas over the 2024 year as well as the performance of their media contributions over that period. The following simple example will be used to help explain the different metrics used in these leaderboards.
Sarah, a Level 8 Local Guide, uses the [T100 System](https://top100localguides.com/login.php) and updates her data on the 28th of each and every month. For simplicity of explanation, she updates her data every 30 days! The following table summarizes her key data as at 28 December:
    Data 28 December 2023 28 December 2024 Delta % Delta
    Points 100,000 115,000 15,000 15%
    Photos 500 550 50 10%
    Photo Views 20m 30m 10m 50%
    Star Photo Views 8m 10m 2m 25%

    (a) The Delta Points shown in the 2024 Movers & Shakers leaderboards is the value of the points earned by a Local Guide over the past year. In this way, Sarah’s 2024 Delta Points is 15,000 [ 115,000 - 100,000 ]*.

    (b) If shown, the % Delta Points is the value of the points earned by a Local Guide over the past year expressed as a percentage. Therefore, Sarah’s 2024 % Delta Points is 15% [ (15,000/100,000)*100 ].

    (c) The Delta Views is the absolute value of the total photo views gained by a Local Guide over the past year. Thus, Sarah’s Delta Views for 2024 is 10m [ 30m - 20m ]*.

    (d) If shown, the % Delta Views is the value of the total views gained by a Local Guide over the past year expressed as a percentage. Therefore, Sarah’s 2024 % Delta Views is 50% [ (10m/20m)*100 ].

    (e) If shown, the Delta Views/Photo is the average photo views gained per photo by a Local Guide in the past year and for comparative purposes, this gives a simple measure of the overall quality of a Local Guide’s photos in terms of views gained per photo; the higher the Delta Views/Photo the higher the quality of the photos! Therefore, Sarah has a 2024 Delta Views/Photo of 18,182 [ 10m/550 ]. The some measure can be applied to video and 360 spheres.

    (f) If shown, the Delta Views/Day is the average photo views gained per day by a Local Guide in the past year and for comparative purposes, this is another metric that gives a simple measure of the overall quality of a Local Guide’s photos in terms of views gained per day; the higher the Delta Views/Day the higher the quality of the photos! Therefore, Sarah has a 2024 Delta Views/Day of 27,624 [ 10m/365 ]. Once again this measure can be applied to video and 360 spheres.

    (g) The Delta Star Views is similar to the Delta Views however in this case, it represents the views gained over the past year by a Local Guide’s most viewed photo, or star photo. Therefore, Sarah’s 2024 Delta Star Views is 2m [ 10m - 8m ]*

    (h) If shown, the Delta Star Views/Day is simply the average Delta Star Views per day over the past year. Therefore, Sarah’s star photo has a Delta Star Views/Day of 5,479 [ 2m / 365 ]. This metric gives a simple up-to-date measure of the quality of our star photo in terms of views gained per day*. The same measure can be applied to star video and and star 360 spheres.

  1. Because these are annual Movers & Shakers leaderboards, to qualify for being included on them you must have used the Top 100 System to check and where necessary update your Maps contributions data sometime in December 2024 and at least in one other month since December 2023.

  2. By definition, if you were a new participant on the Top 100 Leaderboards and started participating in December 2024 then you will not be included in the Movers and Shakers leaderboards in this post. It’s all about creating that level playing field and comparing apples with apples. However, we do look forward to seeing you on the 2025 Movers & Shakers

  3. If your profile is hidden then you will not qualify for inclusion on any of the Movers & Shakers leaderboards that are dependent on the hidden data! These Local Guides will have a [2] shown against their username on the Leaderboards.

  4. While you might be on the Top 100 Media and/or Media Views leaderboards or for that matter have a photo views value greater than that of the last Local Guide on the photo views leaderboard, if you had not provided your video volume and video views data for both months used in the delta calculation then you might not have qualified for inclusion on the Photo and/or Photo Views leaderboards. The reason for this is that by not providing your video data you could be inflating your photos and photo views values for the photos and photo views leaderboards and hence lead to unfair rankings on these leaderboards.

  5. Local Guides that have made it onto the Top 100 Media and/or Media Views leaderboard but have not satisfied the above requirement will have a [3] shown against their username on the Leaderboards. The message here is simple! Check and update all of your data as necessary at least once per month!

  6. In the case of the star media (e.g. star photos) Movers & Shakers leaderboards, if you had more than one star photo in the year then while the delta star views shown will be based on your first and last stars in the year, the leaderboard will only display the details of your last star.

  7. As mentioned in the opening post, a special Local Guides Connect Movers & Shakers badge will be awarded to the top 10 Local Guides on 20 of the leaderboards in this post. However, there will only be one badge awarded to any one such Local Guide. The Leaderboards for which this special badge will be awarded are marked with a * after their title. To allow for corrections of any errors on the leaderboards, the special badges will not be awarded until several days after the leaderboards are posted.

  8. In an attempt at fairly ranking Local Guides in the case of duplicate counts on the Top 100 and Top 10 Champions leaderboards, a weighting score is given to each Local Guide listed on these leaderboards. That weighting score is determined by your position on each of the leaderboards. The higher up, the higher the higher your score.

  9. An asterisk (*) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.

  10. Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Googler.

  11. Selecting any of the Connect Usernames will take you to that Local Guide’s Connect Profile.

  12. Hovering over a Local Guide’s username will display the integration number that integrates that Local Guide’s details on the Leaderboards System and Connect; the umbilical chord if you will between the two disparate systems.

  13. Local Guides included on the leaderboards must check their entries for any errors and/or omissions and provide full details in a comment on this post. Please note that once the 2024 Movers & Shakers badges have been awarded (see point 5 above), no further corrections can be made to any of the 20 leaderboards used to determine who the badge recipients will.

  14. The data for the leaderboards in this post was read monthly since January 2, 2024 up until 1130 on Saturday, January 4, 2025 (UTC).

* Please note that making comparisons using metrics such as delta points and delta views must be done carefully. In my view it is better to use points per day or views per day for comparative purposes and you will find these in the Core Vitals section of the T100 Leaderboards System!
