The Declaration House - Don't Miss This in Philly

This is a cool site in the brotherly city of Philadelphia, also called Philly, in the northeast area of the United States. It is important historically for the Americans because back in 1776, they signed the Declaration of Independence in this place.

It is so easy to miss this important place on the sidewalk of Market Street. I had added it to my bucket list.

The tour guide said that it was originally also known as the Graff House, and was built in 1775 by Jacob Graff, a bricklayer. Thomas Jefferson from Virginia got a room here on rent, and drafted America’s Declaration of Independence here.

Locate the board ‘The Graff House’ placed right on the sidewalk. I found there was an additional entrance from the side on a smaller side road. The gate was closed after 2 pm, and now it seems the entrance that leads to the museum inside is permanently closed.

The original house was demolished long ago and was reconstructed in 1975.

:bus: How to Reach?

I took a mega bus from Washington to here.
Flights are available - I avoided them since taxis to and from airports are costly.

:shallow_pan_of_food: Where to NOT Eat?

Their bread and service were terrible PrimoHoagies.

:hotel: Where to Stay?

I stayed in this hostel.

:compass: Other Attractions in Philly

  1. Philadelphia Clock Tower - World Records and American Superstitions
  2. Liberty Bell in Philadelphia - Dawn of American Freedom
  3. The Declaration House.

Schade wenn das Essen nicht den Erwartungen entspricht, dabei sieht es auf dem Bild ganz gut aus.
Auch das Hotel macht einen guten Eindruck.

Very interesting post @TusharSuradkar . Thanks for sharing the information about this historical place. The pictures are superb. Sometimes taking bus is really better than taking flights.

@TusharSuradkar sir you look so young and fresh in this picture. Thanks for sharing the American independence story. I liked the way the signages are artistically designed, if it is one good thing that we should learn from Americans is their presentation and marketing skills.

And the most funniest  part is your caution about their bread and breakfast in all of your posts. Lol .. :raising_hands:t2::raising_hands:t2:

Thank you, dear @MathanVibranarayan, it was 6 years and I was relaxing during a faraway trip. The climate out there was fresh and pollution-free.

Agree about the presentation by Americans - they also show off their national flag with pride by wearing it on their clothes, cars, and everywhere, which is unthinkable in India.

I was starving for more than 18 hours when I reached there, and entered the cafe with great expectation. Their price was above the mark, but their food added to my misery and on top of that their response was pathetic - so I will never forget them or forgive them
