The Philadelphia House Hostel Experience

A single photo collage illustrates my experience at The Philadelphia Hostel.

This place has probably closed or shifted since my last visit.

:one: Their common area and the dorms were best suitable to make friends and acquaintances from all over the world. I found that many spoke Spanish and French, yet no one had problems communicating.

This hostel had organized walking tours, pub crawls, and game nights, but I did not stay there for so long. I was there only for a day, so I joined only the walking tour the next day.

:two: Cooking with other travelers was fun and budget-friendly. Most ended up sharing meals, but since I did not cook, I shared bread and milk purchased from the grocery.

:three: Vibes - The hostel had a great collection of books to read for free, but on the night I stayed there, someone decided to play his guitar, so I joined them listening to the music :musical_notes:

:four: Staff - They were friendly and travelers themselves. So they were super helpful with local tips, all of which proved to be useful to me the next day.

In fact, the staff was working there so they could earn and spend on travel. So virtually everyone in the hostel was a traveler

:five: Layout - The beds were comfortable and standard size, but the hostel premises were congested. It was not very inconvenient, though.

What is your experience with staying at a hostel like?
Please share any interesting tips in the comments.

:bus: How to Reach?

I took a mega bus from Washington to here.
Flights are available - I avoided them since taxis to and from airports are costly.

:shallow_pan_of_food: Where to NOT Eat?

Their bread and service were terrible PrimoHoagies.

:hotel: Where to Stay?

I stayed in this hostel.

:compass: Other Attractions in Philly

  1. Philadelphia Clock Tower - World Records and American Superstitions
  2. Liberty Bell in Philadelphia - Dawn of American Freedom
  3. The Declaration House.

Woww the pics are so good  reminds me of the time I was staying in The Hosteller Manali. There I taught and made so many veg and non vegetarian dishes. Met Zomato owner and many other guests became friends. It was one of a kind vacation.

These are some out my and @Ssiddharth2000 best memories

Excellent place to stay and connect with fellow travellers. It’s fun and cosy and budget friendly. In India we have a similar concept in hostels, where the staff are travellers themselves who are seeking to gain experience in various fields like Content writing, accounts, social media marketing etc. Beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing @TusharSuradkar

I am so happy to know our fellow local guides are using Hostels as well @Ssiddharth2000 @ShreyaMusings

All photos are fabulous, and a great showcase of how we can enjoy vacation at hostels - way better than at hotels.

Hostels are almost a home away from home.

Thank you, dear @VijendraPatidar @Gvipin for the appreciation :handshake:

Yes, I prefer hostels for their cheap rates, and Google Maps will rarely list any hostels when searching for them. The top priority listings are the costly hotels, then the relatively cheap ones @MathanVibranarayan

Cheapest hotels, Bread & Breakfast places, and hostels can best be searched from outside Google Maps.

Thank you, @Annaelisa
The hostels are especially meant for people who want to save on costs and need only a bed to sleep on, a washroom, and nothing else.

Hi @Annaelisa

These places are called ‘Hill Stations’ in India or a ‘Mountain Town’ in the US.
People go there especially in the summer to escape the heat in the towns.
These hill stations are high up in the Himalayas and have snow even in the summer.
