The Colonial Military Fort of Medine

The Colonial Military Fort of Madinah was designed in 1855 to protect the trading post of Madinah which at that time was inhabited by 12,000 people.

Medina is located in Kayes, Mali in West Africa.)
In Madinah we have:
The first colonial palace of Mali;
The first railway station of Mali;
Mali’s first hospital
The slave march;
The Gate of No Return

NB: There has been a Baobab tree in the heart of the fort for more than 500 years and it is rumoured that when you eat the fruit of this tree you will never die before returning to Medina a second time.
