Sunrise at Kausani, Uttarakhand, India

The hill station of Kausani in Uttarakhand, India is very famous for it’s sunrise and sunset. Both opens up an window to view majestic view of Himalayan peaks like Nandaghunti, Trishul and Mrigthuni.

I reached Kausani in the afternoon from Mayavati, a drive of about 6 hrs through mountainous roads. But I missed the Golden sunset on the mountains due to fog and smoke from a forest fire.

At night it rained heavily accompanied by thunder. I was happy that at last I can see the famous sunrise of Kausani. Even though I got up early, the floating cloud was about to spoil the show. However, I could click a fabulous sunrise when the clouds dispersed for a while to open a small window for me to photograph.

Hi @Gautamda

Yes, indeed very beautiful. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

When is the best time to visit it?

What impressed you the most during this trip?

Thank you very much for your query. The best time to visit Kausani is early March when you can see the many famous peaks of Himalayas from Kausani. But since you are young I suggest that you move further up to Munsiyari and enjoy the glorious sight of snow capped Himalayas.

Secondly any visitor will be impressed by sylvan surroundings, good roads, silence and the hospitality of village folks.
