Just like a bird’s nest, which is typically hidden from view in the middle of a dense bush, the Shibuya Hotel En is nestled in the heart of the vibrant Shibuya district,
It was a 5-minute walk from Google’s office in Tokyo, where local guides from all over the world were invited for the Contributor Conversations event last year.
The best part of this hotel was its location, with Shibuya’s train and subway stations only a kilometer away.
They claim their rooms to be streamlined, though in reality they were congested yet feature-rich with complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
The bathrooms were stylish and glass-enclosed.
The passage and the lobby areas had exposed brick walls with touches of traditional Japanese design. The front desk also had free baggage storage.
The beds were super comfy, and the bathrooms were over-engineered with an overwhelming number of options for water dispensing.
I used to get up early in the morning and walk around in the Tokyo neighborhood observing the roads, the sidewalks, streetlights, and other facilities.
The roads were clean, well-maintained, spotless clean and mostly wore a deserted look for most of the day.
Besides the streets, I also noted the colorful designs on the manhole covers.
Here’s a photo of me posing with various Connect moderators, Ermes, Morten, and Hiroyuki.
