Recap: [Virtual] February 07, Pre-TRAC Meet-up 1

This is another meet-up that you wouldn’t want to miss. Although with 36 local guides, it was well attended. We had a good number of TRACians represented. We also had a good number of newbies, who are wanting to learn to draw roads. We really hope more and more local guides will get involved in drawing roads. Our able and eloquent TRACian @MrFreez did well on the lecture on adding Roads.

We started the meet-up at the dot of 17.30hrs GMT+0. We started with informal chats and discussions about road approvals. Most of us agreed that the approval rate is very down at the moment. Although Marco keeps on showing and advocating for 500k target of roads !!! Lol. Nevertheless, we realise that at this rate of approvals, TRAC 2026 will be difficult or impossible. Despite that, we still advised our team members to keep motivated and start warm up exercises on adding roads.

This is a Pre-TRAC meet-up, so discussions about our approach for next event came up. Last year we had the team system. It was interesting enough though, but we wanted to know if we will continue with that. If anyone has a better idea and approach, we will be happy to consider it come 1st of March 2026. We most probably will conduct a poll over that on connect. As always, majority carries the vote.

We used this opportunity to address issues on our Monthly achievement E-mail on Road Mapper. As a result of our agreement on this post, we are sharing our achievements on one thread. We usually nominate some active members of our community to start the thread. Other achievement posts will be merged into the proposed thread started. Therefore, nominated

@JaneBurunina
@Kumaarsantosh
@PrasadVR
@JustJake
For the months of February March, Aprl and May Respectively.

Last announcement on Road mapper is that we will be sending off the 1st bach of access to Road Mapper in March all being well. We encouraged everyone who hasn’t access yet to please fill the form on the index page for this purpose. to indicate interest.

@MrFreez a prominent TRACian and lecturer for the meet-up took the floor and gave a very illustrative lecture on adding roads for beginners. There were a few other experts on adding roads who also contributed in this part of the meet-up.

  1. Long roads takes time to be approved or gets rejected often. Therefore please avoid that if possible.
  2. A new road should be connected to old existing ones always.
  3. One road per submission always
  4. Roads in urban areas gets approved more often than roads in rural areas.
  5. Ways of searching for roads to add were also mentioned.Jake mentioned A helpful post for enhancement of adding roads.
  6. @khalid also shared some adding roads insights.

@Erna_LaBeau asked a question in the comment box; As a beginner, what post can we read to learn to add roads?
Adding road on desktop step by step !

Adding roads on desktop for beginners!!!

How to add roads on Google maps for all !!!

During the course of our discussions, @Steve_UK mentioned that it will be useful to take note and make a list of countries that hardly get approvals and to avoid them.

Next on the line is a very important thing in the history of TRAC. The new way to register now The Roaders site !!!.

@MarcoDavoli explained in details how it works. Starting from 2026 that will be the site of registration for TRACians and all who wish to be part of the TRAC team.

Please check out the main post here.

Lastly, we have our Pre-TRAC meet-up photo Album here !!!

Thanks for the detailed recap @SholaIB. I certainly would be glad to see this list of countries to avoid. Then I can focus more on the ones where I could get a better approval rate.

I still need to know what to put in the space called “LGC’s Address”.

A highly focused and impactful meet-up; kudos to @SholaIB for leading such a clear and meaningful discussion.

Hello @tony_b

It’s your connect username I believe. Thanks for asking

The Link is not working… kindly check.
(The penultimate line)

For me… as an early-sleeping person, 11 pm IST was very difficult.
And, of course, your wonderful RECAP gave a thorough understanding of what happened.
Thank you very much…
