Photo uploads stuck on "Pending"

Hi,
since today all my photo uploads in Google Maps remain stuck on the status “Upload pending”.
This affects every photo I’ve tried to post today, both in new reviews and when adding pictures to existing places.

I’ve already tried the following without success:
– Restarted my phone and the Google Maps app
– Cleared the Google Maps cache
– Reposted the photos and reviews
– Switched between Wi-Fi and mobile data

Other uploads (e.g. in Google Photos) work fine, so it doesn’t seem to be a general connection issue.
Could there be a current server-side problem with Google Maps photo uploads? I’d like to rule out a device-specific problem before doing any further troubleshooting.

This happens sometimes. You should wait a little. It takes time to upload the pictures.

Hi, same here.
Google Maps shows that last photo was uploaded 20 hours ago, and I uploaded a lot of photos this morning.
Something most likely broke up, I’ll wait

Can you provide link of that review to us what’s other person seeing when it open it others device ? What types of image you are trying to upload ? try with different images, but you can also wait and watch. Image may take some time to upload .

Thank you, @IndianRavi . One of the photos is a Store front and another is a simple main entrance of a temple. As suggested, let’s wait for sometime.

Just a little update, since this morning (I live in Italy) the photos started uploading randomly, both increasing my total points and appearing in “my contributions”

It has happened since last night, even though it says pending on the photos but I have waited for hours and never seen them actually getting uploaded to the location. Most importantly, the internet was nothing wrong but they are not even hidden and just 100% not able to be uploaded.
Does anyone confront the same issue with me?

I am also facing the same issue. I uploaded a photo (matching all standards) and later realised it isn’t uploaded in maps at all. I again retired but same problem. Don’t know if any issue from gmaps or my side.

Hello everyone,

I am facing an issue again with photo uploads on Google Maps.

Back in April, when I added photos to some locations, they were not visible and photos added with review were showing as “Your upload is pending”. They did not appear in the location for 2–3 weeks and later got resolved automatically.

Today the same problem has happened again. This time, I uploaded photos along with reviews, but they are still showing as pending and not visible under the business listing. Till yesterday everything was fine, and now suddenly this issue has come up.

I have seen a few discussions in 2024 under the title “upload pending issue”, but no real solution was shared there.

Maybe some of the experts here can suggest why this is happening or if there is any way to avoid it.

Also would like to know is there restriction in number of photos to be uploaded with a review?

Issues like this reduce the spirit of Local Guides who are always trying to improve Google Maps with genuine contributions.
