Mouth a Massy- A Jamaican Story Teller's Tale

My younger days were spent outside, running up and down with relatives and friend, listening to the colourful stories of Ananci , Charles Hyatt, Black man, White man, Chiney man and many other colourful characters. I grew up in a time where children lived outside, where summer was marked by playing all day, and Ludi, card games and stories would pass the night. I remember enjoying the tales the characters somewhat but the adventures they often embarked on so much more. I also remember on many trips to the country we would often stop to ask for directions. This was often met with, right up di road, or just round the corner (if you’ve been to rural Jamaica you know), you soon reach man. What seemed like hours later we were still heading up the road in search of our destination. In those days I couldn’t wait to share my latest voyages with my friends. A lot has changed from then to now, what has not changed however is my love for adventure and sharing those tales with anyone willing to listen. I enjoy sharing information, in general, I consider myself to be a maven. As a local guide, I have a platform to share my views and experiences with other like-minded individuals. Visiting a new place is an exciting experience, however getting lost, wasting money and time is generally not on anyone’s to-do list. I love sharing because I know how much of a difference it makes to have correct information when going into the unknown. There isn’t any one thing in particular that I like to share. In the past, I have done mostly restaurant reviews but as I venture further and wider I want to grow as a reviewer, sharing more experiences and useful everyday information. I want to be like the great orators of Yesteryear who used stories to keep alive the traditions of Our people. This is one aspect of that goal sharing my stories as I venture far and wide.
