Local Guides Movers & Shakers

@tony_b , thanks for asking

Last month I got to 3. This month I am at 7 already. Still not high enough to unlock very many goodies, but I am referring to the “Dexter list” frequently. I’m still trying to be honest with my likes. And the blooming name game is taking a lot of time. I thought “Brute force attack” was a strategy. Bu you know what they say, if the only tool you have is a hammer…

I’m so sorry for my late reply here @EvaBar as I’m only just catching up with all this and spent a good part of today, a Saturday doing this. I’m really pleased that you also love these new boards that by using different metrics, show us how active we are.

Yes I do recall mentioning to you that you can use the boards, and especially the Country boards, to see all the other opportunities and focus on the areas that you can improve :wink:

As long as the leaderboards motivate and help us improve our contributions then all the ffort is well worth it Eva.

For your information @Rednewt74 , regarding your earlier comment and my reply, today I had some time and updated the readme notes about the Movers & Shakers. Hopefully these updated notes will help you get your head around what it all means.

@xmen123wood ,

What an interesting idea. I am following 4 or 5 Guides who are out in the ‘wild’ that have fabulous numbers. I think I make note of their numbers each month when I update mine.

@AdamGT ,

Thank you for the additional information and example. It makes more sense to me. Thank you for adding more details.

I do have one question. In section 1e, Delta Views /Photo you show "**Therefore, Sarah has a current Delta Views/Photo of 180 (18,000/100)"

I would have thought that the divisor would have been her total number of photos. What am I missing?

@Rednewt74 I believe Adam transposed his number incorrectly and used 100 instead of 10,000. It would be number of added views divided by total number of photos.

You had asked earlier if had any tips and my philosophy is pretty straight forward - I mainly post photos of high traffic POIs with the intent of getting Featured. The only other photos I typically will add and keep are tied to my Reviews or of a place I’ve added to Maps. I delete underperforming photos. I keep a pretty “lean” profile and my focus is always to get the most “bang for my buck”

Indeed @Mikeinthefalls is correct @Rednewt74 however there was another error as the original profile for Sarah was just too unrealistic. I’ve dropped her to a Level 8 and updated her key data with new delta calculations which I hope are now correct and better explain things. Let me know if not.

@AdamGT & @tony_b ,

I’m at vip level nine and feel like I’ve walked through a portal. Thank you for the support.

Awesome @Rednewt74 . Welcome to the inner circle of the @AdamGT project.

Remember, we’re only 11 days away from the end of June, so you’ll need to do all this good stuff again in early July to keep your place (or to regain it very quickly if you lose it).

@tony_b ,

Yes, I know. I am busy doing the write up on my photo A /B survey, but I’ll keep looking at the vip bonus content. Thank you for keeping your eye on me.

I’m glad the numbers have started changing before the end of the month.

Dear @AdamGT , I’m very excited about this new Mover & Shakers statistic you’ve introduced. I’m most interested in Photo Views statistics, I would also be interested in Star Photo Views statistics, but since my Star Photo is now a red star, I have nothing to compare with.

So, with regard to the Delta Views, these statistics give us an idea of such data that we previously didn’t have access to. As I said earlier, for me the most important indicator is Average Views/Photo, but even that is not ideal. I said earlier that it is possible to have a high Average Views/Photo score, but at the same time this indicator is an achievement of the past.

Here’s an example. I want to compare my data with that of three Local Guides such as @JustJake , @abermans and @xmen123wood . If we compare our Average Views/Photo, then all three of them have it lower than mine (mine is 49,749, JustJake has 40,389, abermans has 36,996, xmen123wood has 25,790), but if you compare the Delta Views/Photo, then just the opposite, all three have statistics higher than mine (mine is 1,958, JustJake has 2,693, abermans has 3,595, xmen123wood has 4,719). It all goes to show that the contribution of these three great Local Guides in May is doing much better than my contribution. And I need to be very wary :astonished: of these three Guides, because in this state of affairs they will eventually overtake me in terms of Average Views/Photo.

Adam, I’m really sorry that out of 358 Local Guides that participate in the Leaderboards, only 45 provided information about their data and participate in the Movers and Shakers Leaderboard. Otherwise, if I compared all the data, I would understand that my affairs are even worse than I think at the moment.

I agree with you @katydarhel that the stats that go into making up the Mover & Shakers are exciting and shed an interesting light on our points, and in particular, on our photos and star photo contributions.

I had a quick look at your star photo and can see from the data and the chart below, that it turned into a red star about 12 months ago. For those reading this and wondering what a red star is, see the brief description here.

Sorry Katy I’ve just ran out of time to finish this reply off and will come back to it later…thanks for your understanding.

Edited: OK I’m back :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes the Average Views/Photo metric in the case of our total photos, looks at the total views of all of our photos since the date of the first view and hence covers the time span since day 1, our first click and upload onto Maps. It’s an average of the total views over that time period and as such, doesn’t really tell us how our views are changing over time or going now and this really is the beauty of the new Delta Views/Photo and even perhaps the Delta Views/Day metrics. The other major factor of course, is that the Average Views/Photo metric is very much determined by the number of photos one has! So the more photos one has, as many of the top gun Local Guides have, this can dramatically impact on the Average Views/Photo metric, and conversely of course, in the case of lower Level Local Guides, the impact can distort the overall comparative view of things!

Additional to what I have already included in the latest leaderboards, I have done a lot of work in this area however because I fear that to introduce all this here on Connect will overwhelm some, mind you we may have already done so :sob: , I have left a lot of let’s call it “juicy stuff”, to the Core Vitals area of the T100 System. You may have already seen this in relation to your star photo, and much more is in hand to be introduced in relation to our overall photos.

BTW looking at your charts that I have included above, unless I have made a mistake here, it would appear that you have not been updating all of your data :sunglasses: If this is the case then sadly you will not be getting the maximum value from the T100 System’s advanced charting features some of which I have demonstrated above! The key is to update your data regularly each month and of course, accurately. It’s just so easy to do and only takes a few minutes!!! All those that you mention that don’t update their data, may be interested in this. @TravellerG , @indahnuria and @gadgetguyz may also find this interesting!

Thanks @AdamGT I definitely need to do a better job of keeping up with updating my information.

I’m a little starstruck! Today I learned that the @katydarhel is wary of me! Out of context, I suppose that sounds alarming, but I wasn’t aware that I was even on your radar (for the Leaderboards). :sunglasses: :wave:

Yes, @AdamGT , you are absolutely right, I have not updated my Star Photo data for almost a year, because I see no reason to enter the data of a faded star. But if you say that regularly filling in all the data in the Top 100 System can affect the availability of all the features of your system, then I will think about entering this almost unchanged red star data.

@JustJake , don’t think I’m tailing you on purpose. I just compared 2 leaderboards courtesy of @AdamGT , Average Views/Photo and Movers & Shakers,Photo Views and drew some conclusions. In the Movers & Shakers, Photo Views leaderboard, you are in 7th place out of 45 places, which I think is a very good result. Your successes couldn’t go unnoticed by me :handshake: !!!

@katydarhel no, regularly filling in all the data in theTop 100 System does not affect the availability of all the features in the System. The disadvantage of not updating regularly simply distorts your historical data with missing details, as clearly shown in the charts in my comment. I believe it’s best to keep updating your data. Regarding a red star, can it come back to life? Are there seasonal factors at play? A red star is still your star photo until it is surpassed by another!

Also, your interpretation of my comment is not what I meant @katydarhel . What I was referring to was your comment in your last paragraph where you mention those that haven’t updated their data as you too appeared to be one of them at least in part. The other point to note is that some Local Guides who did update their data in the previous month are also not included in the Movers & Shakers.

Very well noted @AdamGT . Geez… all those datas remind me of my classes during accounting and statistics! Kudos for compiling and ana;yzing them, Adam. And yes… I am updating my data right away so I won’t miss the July session! Cheers from freezing Welly…

Well done @indahnuria and I have to tell you, I can well imagine how freezy Welly would be right now. Some of it must be blowing this way as I’ve just been out for a coffee and came back home to get a warmer jacket before heading into town. Anyway, hopefully now that the solstice has passed, things will start warming up a bit. Fingers crossed.

I love your analytical thinking @katydarhel

My numbers are slightly lower as I play in a smaller arena, but I’m watching the same things as you. My figures were Average Views/Photo 20,235, and Delta Views/Photo 680. These are trending upwards as I’m attempting to add better photos and delete some that are getting negligible amounts of views.

Unlike you, I update all my info every month. Strangely enough, I’m finding it fascinating to watch and record the slow death of my red star. My January 2022 figure looks like an error, but from February onwards through the rest of 2022 until now in June 2023, my overall average star views dropped from 1976 to 1370, while the Delta star views dropped from 39 down to 8 views per day.

Glad to see @AdamGT has added some new charts in the VIP lounge. Very interesting.
