I’m new to the community. I’m a retired Air Force Medic. I started contributing to Google Maps by just answering questions when it would ask me about my location. Many times I would take a picture of the building and the atmosphere inside depending on where I was. I sure wouldn’t have taken a picture of the inside of a McDonald’s lol. I focus on interesting places I have been and restaurants that impress or not impress me. I try to keep any review positive if possible. I contribute to help other people because I have helped people the majority of my life so it just comes naturally.
I will say that it would be nice for Google to recognize us by maybe sending us free merch or something. That would probably push me to be more active. Last I looked I had 6.6 million photo views so a little pat on the back would be nice.

Hi everyone! My name is Hieu, and I’m from Vietnam. I’m very happy to join the Local Guides Connect community and meet people who share the same passion for exploring new places.

3. What I love about being a Local Guide:
I enjoy discovering local restaurants, cafés, shops, and interesting places, then sharing honest reviews and useful photos on Google Maps. I believe that even a short review can help someone make a better decision and can also support local businesses.
4. My favorite places to explore:
I especially enjoy finding good local food, peaceful cafés, beautiful viewpoints, and lesser-known places that may not appear in popular travel guides. Whenever I visit a new place, I usually take photos, check the atmosphere, and share practical information such as prices, service quality, parking, and opening hours.
5. A little more about me:
I work in digital marketing and SEO, so I’m naturally interested in how people search for information online. Being a Local Guide gives me another meaningful way to contribute useful and accurate information to the community.
A fun fact about me is that I can spend a lot of time comparing different places before choosing where to eat or drink—but afterward, I always try to leave a detailed review to help the next visitor!
