Hi everyone! Welcome to Local Guides Connect. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our community.
As “Introduce Yourself” threads can be lengthy, we start a new one each month and lock past threads. You can check previous threads, like June’s, to see who recently joined and where they’re from. We’ll merge any “I’m new” and “Hello world” posts we find elsewhere with this thread to keep things organized.
Do you want to be featured in our monthly Introduce Yourself posts? Share your introduction in the comments, following the five prompts below, and a horizontal photo of yourself (in landscape mode). The best introductions will be considered for future Introduce Yourself posts. *Please note: Your response may be edited for clarity. By taking part in this challenge, you agree to allow us to share your answers and photo(s) publicly here on Connect.*
This month, meet @Emos! @Emos is a Local Guide Level 6, and here’s what she shared.
1. Name: Emine
2. Location: Eskişehir, Türkiye
3. What led you to become a Local Guide: We can’t stop time — but I truly believe that accurate information can give it back to us. When you’re stuck in an unfamiliar city and urgently need to find an ATM, what’s the first thing you do? You ask your phone. And in that stressful moment, finding information that’s current and correct instantly turns panic into relief. That’s my real purpose: the right place, the right time, the right information — and not a single second stolen from anyone.
I don’t just want to guide people — I want to make life a little easier. On every journey, I report live road conditions, accidents, speed cameras, roadworks. I become a silent travel companion for strangers I’ll never meet. They don’t see me, I don’t know them. But their road gets a little smoother — and that invisible act of kindness gives me a happiness I can’t quite put into words.
4. My favorite thing to explore: Google Maps is my magic window to the world. Sitting at my phone or computer, through the photos and videos shared by fellow guides, I can walk the streets of countries I’ve never visited, browse local shops, and discover the world as if seen from above.
I have a long list of saved places — cities, streets, hidden corners from all around the world. My biggest dream is to one day see all of them with my own eyes. For now, maps keep that dream alive and make it grow with every new discovery. Seeing the world’s beauty through someone else’s eyes, then contributing accurate information back into that same platform — when those two things come together, something truly special happens inside me.
5. Fun fact about me: I’m a total map and digital world enthusiast! Even in my free time, I open navigation just to explore a tiny street or a local shop in some unknown corner of the world — as if I’m really there. I’m also very close to earning the Expert Fact Finder badge, and I can’t wait! A heartfelt thank you to our moderators who keep this wonderful community together, and to all my fellow Local Guides. Being here truly means a lot.
Nice to meet you, @Emos! Local Guides, don’t miss the chance to say hi to @Emos in the comments below and share your introduction, too.
