Reporting road closures are essential, not just durring crisis. Many times small rural roads are not generally reported and usually drivers find out too late with no way to turn around. Alerts are one of the few ways that save time and trouble.

I think this is great and I completely see the value in it, especially as a user of google maps myself. However, I would highly advise simplifying the process even more. The way it is described and demostrated above is not possible to do in the moment; too much of a safety hazard and my State is a hands-free state. As a busy professional with children, I probably won’t take the time after the fact to note the road closure. Not because I don’t want to, but because life is hectic and busy. Thus, it would be great to see this develop into something that is more user-friendly in the moment, such as the being able to click “road closure” and google maps is able to register the location of my vehicle so all I have to do is select “confirm”. That way I can do it in the moment with 2 clicks.

Needs to be simplified, you can’t do all that while driving. There really will be a road closure if you try.

Thank you @AriMar , This is mighty useful feature to have and just a week back when driving from Bangalore to Goa in India, we came few roads closure due to the flooding of roads due to severe monsoon, and we had to use the local people advice and took a long detour to reach our destination.

This is a great feature! Please try to share this information with 911 emergency dispatchers and first responders. We have been wanting a method to help detour people around active incidents.

there need to be an easy way to do this while mavigating, today there was a crash closing an off/onramp of 2 major highways, but iwasn’t able to report it until i got to work nearly 40minutes later, so i didn’t report not knowing if it would be accurate at that time.

Is this option will be enabled only during crisis in the area? There are some Bridge work in progress in my city and few roads has been blocked and traffic has been diverted, however Google maps still shows the roads blocked during Navigation. On these times, how can we report roads closure since I couldn’t find the option crisis under explore. Or is this restricted to certain countries now? Please advise. Thanks.
