Recently, we announced that we’ll be sharing a series of articles on Connect that explain some meaningful ways you can contribute as a Local Guide during an earthquake, flood, or other type of natural disaster or manmade crisis.
When a crisis occurs in your community, one of the most helpful things you can do is report a road closure on the Google Maps app to help others navigate out of danger.
Tap the road that is closed. A pin will appear on the map once the road is selected
When the correct area has been highlighted, tap Next on the bottom right of the screen
You can then add a note with more details about the closure
Tap the arrow on the top right of the screen
Tap Done
Alternatively, you can always report a road closure by adding a pin to the affected road, even when you don’t see the crisis marked on the map.
Please always consider your safety and the safety of others first. Your priority during a crisis should always be to get yourself and loved ones out of danger. Please do not report road closures until you are in a safe place.

Cuando se produce una crisis en tu comunidad, una de las cosas más útiles que puedes hacer es informar el cierre de ruta en la app de Google Maps para ayudar a otros a salir del peligro.

This will be a very helpful feature to report road closures in Google Maps. The users will have the possibility to know which roads are currently safe and the users can escape faster from the dangerous area.
I think that the traffic jam arises when many Google Maps-users will use the same Google Maps-directions to drive out of the city where the natural disaster happens.
@AriMar This is a good update. I have seen a recent flood alert in Bangladesh and found that option to report road closure. But when I tried to try report road closure I see it is not yet open in this region. I hope the team will open this option in our area soon.
Really excited to see what is coming next in the series of updates about Google Maps features. I can think of how useful the road closure reporting is in states like mine that experience seasonal flooding and major hurricanes that impact evacuation routes. Hopefully, I don’t have to use this feature, but I am happy to know that I can now!

Thank you @AriMar , this is a very important step. Road closure is one of the most important information in a crisis, that in Italy we faced several times during the earthquake

Hay @AriMar , Many roads have been damaged due to floods in Bangladesh, but this option is not yet operational in Bangladesh. when ireport road closure I see it is not yet open in this region. so I hope you are will open this option in bangladesh.
