It all started a short time ago, three years ago to be exact. I wanted to find descriptions of places where I was not sure whether to visit or not. I discovered that at least in my town, I cannot find any helpful reviews. Therefore, I said to myself if there could be more people around who are in the same situation as I was, why not writing reviews that help others in the future, and that’s how I started.
Earning points
At the beginning I took it as a “game”, because I could earn points by writing more detailed reviews, uploading photos and videos; In addition, you can earn many insignias and achievements.
In all my reviews about food and drinking places I always try to include three main features which are environment, price, and merchandise quality. In addition of considering these three features I try to capture what and how I felt in that place in my writing, so my reviews can be a different point of view focused on the customer rather than the place.
In Spanish
When traveling to the United States I found a little bit hard to check reviews about the places that I was about to visit because all of these reviews were written in English, and being Spanish my native language, I though “what if I do reviews in Spanish for people who are in the same situation I was”, just for the satisfaction of helping. By doing this I can help the tourist and the places I went by having descriptions now in several languages.
Although I could forget the application sometimes, I felt satisfied when I receive emails every month about my contributions helping the community, my review views, my photos and videos. These emails helped me as a reminder and motivated me to give me time to update my visits and tell everyone about my experiences. Writing with the motivation to “earn points” by adding information that can help the rest, I always remember when one day my brother asked me “And what do you gain from this?”, and I told him I do it for the satisfaction of helping people.
Now that I think about it, there are more and more places with good reviews, which help me because I use the app on the daily basis, so why not take part in this community by adding more and more information.

And it is not all, this month I have discovered much more. There is a big community of people just like me, people with the initiative of helping, and I can learn a lot from them, and I can find many more ways to contribute with the community.
