I have been there for about three years now and have been a local guide for eight years and I have not yet been promoted to the gift that Google offers to the local guide. I wish the gift was soon. I wish it was a Google Pixel phone.
Hi,
Nice joke.
Local Guide is a volunteer program, you will not get anything for your contribution to Google Maps, but Google will recognize you as a Local Guide for your contribution. In any case, you will get points for each contribution you make to Google Maps and you can upgrade your local guide level.
From time to time, in a selected region, Google may send emails to Local Guides randomly in exchange for such rewards as their contribution to LG, but there are no set criteria or rules for Local Guides to be eligible for any reward.
Also, to receive the benefits, you must be subscribed to their emails and contribute to Maps regularly. Make sure your email preferences have the benefits emails enabled by visiting Local Guides settings .
Finally, have a look at the article below for explanations on how rewards work in Local Guides:

And if you really want to have Pixel phone you can buy in official Google Store.
@Ismail26 I really would love a Pixel too, as a Local Guide. I actually got one in 2019 but it was a surprise gift. We didn’t expect such a gift as Local Guides.
The truth is if we keep contributing without hoping to get a perk it could come as a big surprise. Some Local Guides are lucky, they get perks like socks, pins, opportunity to travel for events and other offers.
To receive gifts you have to set your options as outlined by @new.user
So keep contributing and engage with the community in your city and connect, and you may get a special gift someday. Good luck!
Just an appreciation message to the way you responded to this LG, EmekaUlor.
This is a how a CM should respond. Noticed a CM going too brash on someone who asked for a pixel in another thread. Totally uncalled for.
@new.user Thank you for clarifying more. Gifts were common here. Every time I entered, I saw that someone said that I received a gift. Now, few people talk about this topic. No problem. I am a volunteer and I work with all my energy. Why did you choose this to be a Google Pick?
Thank you @enthukutlet I understand what I mean. It’s good that you noticed the supervisor’s response to me.
Hello @Ismail26,
Please be advised that I removed the image from your topic as it was not your own. Benefits are not specified for every level. The points that you earn lead to higher levels of the program, as well as to benefits like early access to Google features and special perks from partners. Please bear in mind that rewards and benefits for the Local Guides program are always changing. Check out this article Question about a Local Guides reward email? Read this first.
Rewards for different locations may be offered from time to time. To maximize your chances of being eligible for a future reward opportunity, continue to add high quality contributions to Google Maps.
What do you mean? I didn’t choose anything.
You observations are correct. The era of regular perks may have declined because of logistics and government policies. If there are changes in movement of goods or increase in tariffs or even restrictions then there’s bound to be difficulties sending perks across the world. It becomes hard and expensive. Legal issues may also be a challenge so, we also need to understand this policies.
Like volunteers, we keep contributing quality data, nevertheless hoping things get better!
Happy Guiding!!
