When I worked in corporate training, I had the opportunity to travel to Montana for 2 weeks. It was to the city of Billings. For those of you who aren’t aware, some Billings, MT facts:
- Billings is the largest city in the state of Montana
- Billings Logan International Airport sits on top of the Rims, a 500-foot (150 m) cliff that overlooks downtown
- With eight microbreweries in the metro area, Billings has more breweries than any community in the state.
- When I was there I visited both Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co and Red Lodge Ales Brewing Co
- In Billings, you can visit the Yellowstone County Museum for free and see more than 15,000 artifacts
I wanted to drive to Yellowstone but only made it part of the way on the weekend due to time constraints. So I was able to take a tour of and shop in Red Lodge and visit Red Lodge Ales Brewing.
The brewery was my favorite stop because it was all friendly locals and amazing snacks and beer varieties. When I left around nightfall I was warned about deer crossing the road which I balked at, until I counted over 150 deer on my hour-long drive back to Billings.
Some things I want to do in Montana when I get time to return not on business:
- Glacier National Park, Montana - The National Park has over 1,583 square miles of beautiful scenery and nature. I would love to see grizzlies, bighorn sheep, and lynx while hiking on the hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Also, I would love to take a scenic drive on the world-famous 50-mile highway known as Going to the Sun Road.
- Bozeman - I would love to visit the Museum of the Rockies which house the largest collection of dinosaur remains in the USA and the largest Tyranasaurous skull. Visit Story Mill Community Park to see the wonderful scenery, let my kids play on the many playgrounds and climbing structures.
And I leave you with one more Montana fact:Montana is the first U.S. state to elect a woman to Congress.YES!
