Hi @Shubhu1 , Devgiri Daulatabad trip sounds like an adventure place. I bet you had an amazing experience, I can tell that by reading your post. My suggestion would be to post some photos of the place to let the readers understand the beauty of this place. You mentioned this is a historical place. So a little background of the place would be nice. I am guessing this is in India. But as India is a huge country, you can share the maps profile of the place so that others can visit it too if they are interested. Thank you for sharing your experience. Looking forward to seeing some photos and learn a little more about this place.

Hi @Shubhu1 @SoniaK @KashifMisidia Bhai

The Daulatabad fort is located very close to my home in Aurangabad where I lived and spent the first 25 years of my life before moving to Pune in the year 2000. I have been to this fort at least 20 times in the past as part of school picnics, almost every year, along with friends and relatives for family outings.

About its history, I can claim to know more than any local tour guide

Originally it was built by the Yadav dynasty in the 10-11 century as Devagiri Fort and was later conquered by Allauddin Khilji and renamed Daulatabad in the 14th century.

There were two rings of walls around the fort built one by the Yadav kings and later by the Khilji between which was situated the city of Daulatabad. The outer wall has vanished now.

Also, the most interesting thing about this fort was when Muhammad bin Tughluq shifted the capital of India from Delhi to Daulatabad in 1327.

He literally ordered everyone in Delhi including the cattle and everything to be shifted.

Soon he realized a lot of it was wasted or destroyed in travel, so he shifted back to Delhi and the remaining everything was destroyed in the return travel.

We are planning a huge meetup of Indian local guides in this fort in December this year.

Excellent photo of the тАЬMendha TofтАЭ or Sheep Cannon @Shubhu1

Not seen in your photos, but if you look on Google Maps, there are several pots carved in stone very close to the cannon.

These pots were filled with water.

After igniting the cannon, the тАЬTopchiтАЭ or the operator had about half a minute to quickly move to the pots and immerse his head completely into the water.

This was done to protect his ears from the huge shocks created by the cannon firing.

This was not possible simply by covering his ears with his hands or any other object.

Only water in the pots could absorb the shocks. The cannon was so powerful.

Hi, @SoniaK , @KashifMisidia bhai, @jakiripsc , hope you find this information interesting too, continuing from my previous reply here

As mentioned earlier too, we are planning a huge meetup of Indian local guides in this fort in December this year.

Wow beautiful post and photos. Thanks for sharing our heritage of our country India.

Next time just mention how to reach the place near by station , is the place accessible :wheelchair: earlier our forts were not accessible but now time have changed.

Entry fees is there. Washroom is there., Drinking water is availableтАж

Would love to visit such historical places but I canтАЩt climb many steps high.
