Last week @TravellerG took us to the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum in Bangalore now called Bengaluru, as part of the mega meetup.
At the entrance, I, @MathanVibranarayan, and another local guide whom I do not remember now, saw a retro weighing scale at the same time.
Our eyes sparkled with joy since we had seen this machine after almost 25 years.
I remember during the 80s when I was in high school, these machines were found at bus stands and railway stations. I used to ask my dad for a 1 Rupee coin to operate it.
The machine had rotating disks and colorful lighting.
After standing on the pedestal and inserting the coin, the wheels rotated, and the machine made some amusing sounds of levers and gears operating inside that gave us goosebumps about what was in store for us.
Within a few seconds, a piece of cardboard would be spit out by the machine which displayed our weight and also a little fortune
We relived this moment at the museum.
Here’s a photo collage:
Challenge
Share the Google Maps link and a photo of a school day memory you relived recently.
Ideas to take the challenge:
-
Locate your school on Google Maps and visit there, if you haven’t in a long time. Take a photo and share it in the reply.
-
Locate an old friend’s place on Google Maps whom you have visited without Google Maps - and give him/her a surprise. Show them how to use Google Maps if they don’t know already. Invite them to LG Connect.
-
Locate a park or cinema theatre you have not been to for a long time. Check how it looks now and upload photos to Google Maps. Write a review of the place by simply adding facilities like parking, accessibility, updates, and photos.
