Harrachov – the center of the winter sports but also the place with great history of glass making.
Todays town was created after World War II by connecting two, until then separate parts Ryzoviste, Harrachov and Novy Svet. Ryzoviste is considered to be one of the oldest mining colonies. In 17th century there was the glass factory founded here. It was moved to Novy Svet at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1764 – 1942 it was in the possession of the counts Harrachs and because of high technical quality and artistic value local production became hot not only in Bohemia, but also around European and world markets. There is also possibility of visiting the glass works itself where the most of it’s production is handmade. Visitors can also see the unique old technology in the cutting room.
First trip – Glass factory and brewery
Glass Factory Harrachov is the second oldest glassworks in Czech and was founded in 1712. All glass products are made with traditional manufacturing and each visitor can peak into glassmaking traditions during excursion.
Brewery and Restaurant Novosad in Harrachov is part of the oldest, privately owned glass factory in Czech - Novosad & Son, founded in 1712. This typical micro brewery restaurant is mainly interesting because of it's own beer making, but also as a part of glass factory you can peak into glass making while enjoing tasty beer.

@ShafiulB Glassworks is not a shop but a museum. Entry is a guide and commentary. I shop here intentionally not paying. It is also there. Only products are displayed. Production takes place in the traditional way. Visitors can see tradidní manual production. Production and grinding mill in the original historic building from the 17th century.

Second trip - Ski Jumping Platforms and Devil mountain
Harrachov is famous resort with five ski jumping platforms. It spreds around Čertova hora mountain and it's pride is visible from almost every corner here. There are 3 smaller platforms K40 (with critical point of 40m), K70 and K90. Just a little higher there is K120 and K180 - designed for ski flying. K180 is one of the 6 bigest platform in the world and World Championships were here in 1983 and 1992.
On top of Devil Mountain (1021m) leads from Harrachov chairlift that conquers elevation of 350 meters. Lift leads to the largest mammoth bridge for ski jumps and a year-round operation.

Third trip - Mining Museum
Mining museum and it's shaft display original tools and equipment, also showcase of the mined minerals. The shaft itself is about 450m long, with average temperatures aroun 10 - 12 degrees. The exhibition is devoted to the history of ore mining in the Czech republic. You have a unique chance to see a mineralogical collection, objects and equipment used while mining. The excursion takes place in a 450 metres long drift which definitely raises the advanterous atmosphere.
