Local Guides Connect App

I think this is one of the most requested idea regarding Connect, but I'm going to repeat it since we now have a (more) official space to document ideas and feedback.

The mobile experience using browser is not very pleasant, as it's pretty much difficult to do... well.. everything. Creating a post from mobile is out of the question, as most of the time I'm fumbling over different buttons before I gave up and decided to write it once I'm in front of my computer.

Local Guides do have an App - it's called Maps :).

This is a really common request @khaleel1 go find it on Idea Exchange and vote for it.

Note that the platform underlying Connect is a Progressive Web App so you can pin it to your home screen and it will behave just like an App. I've done this on my phone and it works great.

I agree with PWA but PWA is not much effective. If people get Native mobile app Sharing, Connect and explore dashboard will become easy. I'm a developer and Local guide as well so I understand the need of a Mobile app.When I try to share anything from mobile its become take too much time.

Interesting that you feel that way @alokverma_av a properly developed PWA (see https://developers.google.com/web/progressive-web-apps/ )  is indistinguishable from an App except for offline use, that is still problematic but everything else including accessing the camera etc. on the phone are well supported in current browsers. HTML5 has come a long way in recent times. Even three months ago I would have agreed with you, but today a PWA over a good micro services architecture is great. I'll bet that most people don't even know that plenty of the things they think of as Apps today are actually a PWA in an App container.

Since you like the idea of an App hopefully you've hopped over to the idea exchange and voted on the Local Guides App request that is there already.

I think an app will serve better because it will be a one stop shop for all local guide connect activities as against the present situation where we shuttle between facebook,  twitter and Instagram. It is very cumbersum

I agree with this idea because it will remove the cumbersomeness and the rigor of trying to keep up with other activities on other social media platform

I agree with you but the native mobile app will serve better compare to Local Guide Connect Lite app.

I think gooGoo should make a app for Android and others.

Opening web browser is quite hectic.

So it's my suggestion.

Google please make a social networking site type app for localguideconnect
