Autosizing photo file size to Connect every time

I would love it if the photos I try to upload to Connect could resize itself automatically from any of my devices (phone, iPad, or desktop). I find that many times I want to upload a photo or to Connect and I get an ".jpeg exceeds maximum file size of 3072K".

It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough times that it becomes annoying and I stop wanting to upload a photo to Connect because it takes me time to download and edit the file size (harder to do on a mobile device) and then try to upload again.

I am slowly learning my way around connect, I haven't been able to post a photo yet I find a size restrictions to be a real problem. 

 I imagine that there's an extremely good reason four of the limitations on resolution  of photos.

The addition of a photo editor program on connect so that adjustments can be made during upload would really help.

I feel a real importance for a high-resolution photos and the detail and quality that they offer.

Hi @TerryVand this is a duplicate idea request. Please always take a look at the existing ideas and add your voice to those by voting.

For photos, anything around 2000 pixels on the longest edge at 96dpi is sufficient. Note that your browser will always display at 96dpi regardless of the actual resolution.

In the mean time to help you use Connect with your photos take a look at https://squoosh.app/ it is a progressive web app built by Google to demonstrate the capabilities. It will work in any modern browser and makes it easy to modify the size of photos on any platform or device without needing any specialised software installed locally.

I just recommend you before you submit an idea to search the community. It’s possible that someone else has already submitted the same one, so you can show your support by voting for that idea.

I have tried the put up an email and i have been told that my picture is bigger than 3.027mb and i can only upload it if i resize it. Now this is a lot of unnecessary work which i am not willing to do in 100 000 picture which i could potentially upload onto Local guides to share my experience and adventure with the people. This put me right of and i am not going to upload any pictures. I think if Facebook or twitter would ask people to resize there pictures before uploading they would run out of business overnight. A modern website should deal which any time of picture in any tip of format and resize it or converting it, to it needs.

So please sort this out and write a pie of code which will automatically resize the pictures so people can get on with it!

I want to thank Google team for making connect form more user friends. I have an idea to exchange, this came out of my personal experience.

An idea for exchange: Presently there is a limitation of uploading Photo size (3072K) in connect. 

If there is an auto compressor or resizing option will be great for quick upload.

 Like during travel or quick post find it difficult to resize the photos and upload in the post. Especially in the middle of a post if my photo was rejected because of oversize while editing the photo I lose the post ( but autosave options helps for some extent). So if there is an auto-resizing / zipping option for the post will be a great help. 

Recommendations:

1. Photo resize by - Crop option 

or 

2. Photo resize by - Resolution change option

or 

3. photo resize by - auto zipping or compress 

or

4. The restriction for photo limit can be increased. As now days even the smartphones photos are in high resolution and size.

Indeed an interesting idea to have the option to resize photos when uploading to a post.

It would be even better if you could share with us a bit more by visual explanation.

On the same note, it would be best to share the on another post the second idea, as it may have better chance for development.
