PERKS?

I'm a local guide level 6, and contribute weekly. I share high quality images of various nature areas located throughout Wisconsin. Recently I deleted all of my reviews, and I'm now starting to remove my photos from maps. Why? Because Google Local Guides program hasn't offered me ANYTHING for "Perks" in return for my efforts as I was promised for incentive. It's been well over a year now since I was awarded my 2 years of "free" drive storage in which I worked very hard to receive. The only thing I've been offered since then, has been discounts on women's handbags, and services that are at a discount for the first month or 2. I'm so fed up with the GREED from Google. I try to remain positive and offer quality content. It's just unfortunate that content creators are exploited just as means to line someone else's pocket. That's how I feel about this entire local guides program. What am I missing here? Where are my Perks? Give me a gas card or an oil change for all the driving I did for google maps! Make my time involved and money spent, something worthwhile. I feel like my photos and reviews are being used to draw traffic to places I've been. Why should I continue to contribute when theres nothing offered to me? I have nothing to show for besides "views". And exposure doesn't pay the bills. It's time to offer me something useful, or I'm deleting every last contribution I've made over the past 3 years! There's no incentive to continue any further without a viable reimbursement here. Google has the money and ability to offer something for those who contribute quality content on a weekly basis. There's no incentive without perks.  Where are my Perks?

Re: PERKS?

Quite a lucrative offer. I'll pass on the 75% movie discount and the first 3 months of free music service. These are not viable incentives. Thanks anyway.

Re: Level-4 benefits for local guide

Well, that was a good deal.....I just got Level 5 but no Perks with it. I hope Google will add good perks with every new Level.

Re: Level-4 benefits for local guide

@Nitin_Gandhi

Ya Google preaks will come after August 31. Till now OYO rooms and play music is on. Perks are not based on your level achievement of level 5. Examples if you achieve level 10 in future you will get same advantage as level 3 persons. You will get exclusive intivitation to Google programs if you reach level 10. That will be not shared with level 3. There is a different between achievements and perks given by Google

Do kudos me if your problem has been resolved

Re:

Your response was a little confusing Paul...Intensely marketed, we are.
My issue Paul, is that the "perks" subscription based apps. Leading one (or millions) to possibly come out of pocket to purchase a product after tasting the sweet nectar; that is Google Music.
I need someone on Google's staff to address me privately on the nature of this situation.
Someone who understands the concept of my grievance.
This doesn't feel like a free trial or a free offer.
These are incentive based "perks", given from contribution. I trust that Google wouldn't just bill the daylights out of me, as would a credit bureau / late cancellation.
Permanency in the "perk" or app would make more sense. Such as google reward bucks...! Hey theres an idea!

But lets not forget Paul's helpful answer below!

'Do you not think that Facebook sells your information? Really? The entire world is commercial. Most of us are smart enough to recognise that and not use perks or prizes as a reason to be a Local Guide. The reason is to help other people in the same way that they help you.

The google play perk is limited countrywise

I am In Ghana and since the benefits have been coming ,My country is not always part .

I don't know about other local guides but this not fair at all

Moreover the countries listed are not the only countries in local guide

Re: Re:

Hi @Ryan7094 I imagine if they feel the need a Googler will contact you via PM.  I've not known them to take up communication on perks but you never know.

Since LG started there have been a number of perks. Some are from Google (e.g. drive storage, Google Play) some are from third parties. Some have been really awesome, some not so much. They have mostly been timed offers and most of them have allowed you to continue with a service afterwards if you choose too. I already have Google Play so the three months doesn't do anything for me, but that's ok. Perks are not why I'm  a Local Guide. I do this both to pay back people who have contributed material (updates, reviews, ratings, photos) that I've used and to be part of a great community. I know that our contributions help Google commercially but I don't really care, I utilise plenty of services from Google for free too - it's a two way street.

Regards

Paul
