Introducing new badges on Google Maps

Let's not go there.

Basically, there is no change of Maps version.  So I strongly believe our Maps Profile must be ready so that certain version of Maps will start display the new Badges.

There are 5 badges shown:

Level, Photographer, Trailblazer, Fact Finder, Reviewer

There is a color "ring" at the side of the circles, so that it will show how far away is for the next level:  Novice, Expert, Master

Requirement for each level:

• Novice Reviewer:
  • 3 places
• Expert Reviewer:
  • 25 places
  • 5 reviews > 200 characters
  • 5 helpful reviews
• Master Reviewer:
  • 100 places
  • 50 reviews > 200 character
  • 50 helpful reviews
• Novice Fact Finder
  • 3 approved edits
  • verify 3 edits
  • answer 25 questions
• Expert Fact Finder
  • 25 approved edits
  • verify 25 edits
  • answer 250 questions
• Master Fact Finder
  • 100 approved edits
  • verify 100 edits
  • answer 1000 questions
• Novice Trailblazer
  • 1 first photo of a place
  • 1 first review of a place
  • 1 approved new place added
• Expert Trailblazer
  • 10 first photo of a place
  • 10 first review of a place
  • 10 approved new place added
• Master Trailblazer
  • 50 first photo of a place
  • 50 first review of a place
  • 50 approved new place added
• Novice Photographer
  • add photos to 3 places
  • 1000 views
• Expert Photographer
  • 100 photos
  • add photos to 25 places
  • 100,000 views
• Master Photographer

Thanks @YK1001 this helps. I think that the issue here is that some of these badges require very heavy queries. So maybe the jobs will run for months.

I'm thinking that you are suggesting that it will take months to get to the top tier of each badge? This is not a bad thing! We're Local Guides anyway. It gives us something to look forward to. I think the biggest [badge] concern will be the 50 review likes as this is utterly and completely out of our hands.

@Gabisdaddi no, I think that the jobs for calculating each badge for each user are highly time consuming! Consider, more than 50 million of LGs, and for each of them the jobs should determine wether if  you have the first photo of a place, the first review, etc.etc.

Yes @davidcox, some of these badges are based on insight that, to me, look very hard to compute.

Personally I believe that there is scope of further refininment of new badge systems. In addition, Badges on connect may also be included some where or as a seperate badge. @LucioV

LGs from India has now started reporting receive the New Badge System.
