This is great. My dad uses a wheelchair because he's an amputee. He lives in the Philippines most of the year (9/10 months) because he said in comparison to NY, the Philippines makes it easier for handicap for everything. When he's in NY he struggles with the heavy doors because the "wheelchair button" often times do not work. People in NY don't respect that fact that he's in a wheelchair and often gets a bags to the face and shoved. When it comes to parking people don't think that the blue striped lines are for handicap accessibility and pile up their shopping carts there. When he arrives to the mall in the Philippines, they let him park anywhere closest to the entrances, even if it's not a designated parking spot, when he goes to the grocery store, someone is always willing to walk besides him and gather what he needs, then a special line will open to check him out.
I'm very interested to see when this project is finished and see how wheelchair friendly many places are! What a great idea!!! @JuanCh

@DiAnaUS I'm so sad to hear that and hope that us Local Guides in NYC can help to improve that experience by being good people and Local Guides by sharing information on Google Maps. The above photo is from an accessibility meet-up hosted by @Anonymous a few weeks back. 🙂
