I would like to report some issues and seek your assistance. I have picked several examples/issues and given below.

Meaningless name:

Exact name “St. Peter's Methodist Church” was denied and displays meaningless name “church”. Can we name like just church?

Official name and locally known name is Church of Our Lady of Presentation. Therefore, I have changed St.Mary's Church to Church of Our Lady of Presentation, but denied. There are so many St.Mary's churches in particular location. How to specify them?

Correct name is “Home For Elders”, but it is pending for longtime with the spelling error “Home For Elderd”. How long it is going to be "pending"? 

Place creation denial:

Creation of Martello tower is denied. See Wikipedia article for more information.

“Church of the Condemnation and Imposition of the Cross” (31°46′49.26″N 35°14′1.36″E) and “Church of the Flagellation” (31°46′49.93″N 35°14′03.72″E) are different two chapels or churches, but creation of Church of the Flagellation is denied.

Creation of Sycamore fig tree (Zacchaeus tree) is denied. The tree is notable historical importance and tourist attraction due to its link to Jesus and Zacchaeus. Also, Palestinian authority protected as monument.

I have added Tamil name of The Open University of Sri Lanka, but denied. What is the reason?

The name “Aman Tample Beache Road, Jaffna” is wrong and its category “Taoist Temple” too. It should be Amman Temple with category “Hindu temple”. But edit is pending. Why?

This is Church of the Seven Apostles. I tried to change Russian name to English, but denied. What should be primary language? Any policy/guidelines regarding this?

Miss leading name/place:

Fort Hammenheil and Fort Hammenheil resort are different structures. Eg: First one is a fort that has historical importance and second one is resort. Fort Hammenheil is categorized as fortress, but website of resort is given to the fort. I made necessary edits. But, so far no my edits were denied or pending.

It is an ancient pond, but marked as “Ministry of Education & Cultural Affairs”. It has been edited and reported, but no outcome so far.

Tamil names:

I have seen many Tamil names that are approved without good knowledge of Tamil language’s grammar. I don’t like to edit as it would be deny or pending. Some Tamil names seem like edited with the help of Google translator which is not perfect. Eg: You can’t translate commercial names and you can’t transliterate some proper names. Does Google has any mechanism to handle such issues?

In Sri Lanka, Sinhalese and Tamil languages are official name. When I add Tamil, it has been denied or marked as pending. Is there any policy regarding this?

Finally: 

I would like to know why such “denial “and “pending” response. I volunteer for creation of better map and spend my time and resources. However, a blind denial or pending for long time does not mean anything, but frustration that would result lack of interest. I edit what I know and I am pretty sure about my edits. If you deny or keep pending for longtime, you should tell the reason. Otherwise, you should have a good reporting system.

Hi @AntanO Thanks for pointing out these issues. The best example is Church of Our Lady of Presentation. I also got denied by the system, Many of them are still under pending list. 

I also have seen many Tamil names that are approved without good knowledge / translated incorrectly!. Actually, I'm trying to validate those these days.

Every edit is different and it goes through multiple filter for us to understand what you are trying to do on Google Maps.  As you read on the post I wrote, there're A LOT of reason and most of the times we get it right but sometimes good genuine edits may not be accepted because we were confident that it 100% sure.

But don't take it personally. If you wish to learn more, get one of your edit that was denied and post in the Mapping Your World category so you can discuss with other mappers what you can do better to make sure your next edit will be published.
