As a photographer, I love “Parrots/Parakeets” a lot - I fully believe, you too feel happy to see them…right?
The ‘World Parrot Trust’ initiated the ‘World Parrot Day’ in 2004 and celebrated it on 31 May - thus, it falls today, Friday 31 May 2024. The theme of this year is ‘Make a Pledge to Parrots’. I dedicate this post to all the World’s Parrots and pledge that I shall do possible things to create awareness and protect them.

- What is “Your Pledge?”
- Could you please add a photo of a ‘Parrot/Parakeet’ from your collection?
These magnificent birds are essential to our ecosystems and are considered the “Gardeners of the Forests”; they manage a lot of things, free of cost - disperse seeds, pollinate plants, vegetation overgrowth - above all, they eat away a lot of insects, thus control many pests.
The world’s most intelligent bird is the African Grey Parrots which can mimic human speech (with extensive vocabularies and even sing songs along with music), and can also solve problems. They are capable of learning a long list of tricks. It is said that they are smarter than apes!
Here are a few photos from my collections.

And finally, the difference between a parrot and a parakeet: (I had this doubt for a long time )
In simple words, the Parrots are larger birds with stronger bodies whereas parakeets are smaller birds with slender bodies; of course, there are also many more differences.
*Here is a 5-second video*showing the interest of Parrots in learning Photography!
I hope you enjoyed the narration, Photos and video - can I expect your feedback?
Thanks in advance.
