Why you should visit Portugal - my recommendations

Inspired by @Latika_Malhotra I decided to share my recommendations about travelling to one of my favorite country – Portugal.

I have been living in Portugal for one a half years and it was really a very happy time. Portugal is the oldest country in Europe with a unique culture, nice people, magnificent nature and architecture and tasty food.

So first of all:

  1. Portugal is known to be one of the safest countries in Europe. I never once felt unsafe whilst living here. The locals in Portugal are incredibly friendly and always willing to lend a hand. As soon as you step foot into the country, you are sure to be made welcome and feel at home.

  2. In the main cities in Portugal, English is widely spoken, making communicating very easy.

  3. Portugal is really well connected with trains and buses. No need to hire a car.

  4. Try local dishes – Bacalhau (salted cod fish) and pastel de nata (the best dessert ever)!

  5. Lisbon and Porto – two major cities of Portugal are on the hills. If you like walking you will need comfortable shoes.

  6. There are a lot of observation decks (viewpoints) in Lisbon and Porto, don’t miss them. There is a great view on the city.

  7. Visit SINTRA - a town and municipality in the Greater Lisbon region of Portugal, located on the Portuguese Riviera! A major tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site!!
    The best places in Sintra:
Quinta da Regaleira, an integral landmark of Sintra’s UNESCO Cultural Landscape
The Pena National Palace: summer residence of the monarchs of Portugal during the 19th century

  8. 18 km from Sintra is Cabo da Roca (Roca cape), the westernmost point of the Eurasian continent.

  9. Visit the impressive Buddha Eden – the largest oriental garden in Europe.

  10. Algarve region in the south of the country known for its beautiful beaches and rock formations. There is the airport in the south of Portugal in the city of Faro.
The best beaches are concentrated in the Algarve area and in the area of the so-called Portuguese Riviera, Estoril and Cascais.

  11. If you want to test yourself and feel something different, try surfing! You will remember it for a long time

  12. Portugal is full of SO many cute little villages that are definitely worth visiting (Nazare, Lagos, Albufeira, Alvor etc)

  13. Enjoy the magnificent sunsets in the south of Portugal

  14. Visit one of the most beautiful beach in Algarve – Praia da Falesia and Benagil cave.

Secondly (and the most important):
15. Enjoy your travelling

Thank you for your attention)

nice sharing @Yulia_Tikhanycheva especially since I’ve never been to Portugal before.

The food looks interesting. Is it easy to find halal food there? What are some authentic Portuguese foods that tourists should try, and in which restaurants we can found it?

and the Buddha statue, like in Mojokerto Indonesia, but it seems in to be smaller, both the statue and the garden. We usually call it Sleeping Buddha.
